ESPN's Adam Schefer reports that the Colts have agreed to a 2-year, $24 million deal with OLB Justin Houston. He joins a defense that couldn't get much going opposite Jabaal Sheard on the edge in 2018. Houston has missed 4+ games in 3 of the past 4 seasons and turned 30 in January. But he also racked up 18.5 sacks over the past 2 seasons and has averaged 0.85 sacks per contest since 2012, his 2nd year in the league. There's at least matchup-starter potential for Houston in pressure-friendly IDP leagues. His value could get a major boost, however, if the move nets Houston DE/DL eligibility
The Chiefs are using their franchise tag to keep OLB Dee Ford from reaching free agency. Reports have also surfaced that the team is trying to trade OLB Justin Houston. Ford enjoyed a breakthrough 2018, with 55 total tackles and 13 sacks -- both career highs. He also led all edge players with 78 total pressures, according to Pro Football Focus. Houston has reached 9 sacks each of the past 2 years but has also lost 4+ games to injury in 3 of the past 4 seasons. At 30, Houston's likely on the downside of his career. We'll see where this offseason takes him. He's worth holding in dynasty leagues that weigh sacks/pressures decently. You're not likely to find much trade value in him, and Houston has continued to flash high weekly upside when healthy.
Chiefs ILB Anthony Hitchens (rib), OLB Justin Houston (hamstring) and S Daniel Sorensen (knee) are active for today’s game against the Cardinals. Hitchens is the only real IDP option here. There’s pass-rushing upside to Houston, but we can’t count on his normal snap allotment.
Chiefs LB Anthony Hitchens (rib), OLB Justin Houston and S Daniel Sorensen (knee) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Hitchens entered last week's game with the rib issue and left early but returned. He should be ready for the game. Houston and Sorensen are expected to return for limited playing time, according to The Kansas City Star. Houston missed the past 4 games but returned to practice last week. Sorensen recently came off IR after suffering a fracture in his left leg in August. Neither Houston nor Sorensen looks like a viable IDP option this week, but each has a chance to become 1 soon. Hitchens looks fine for IDP usage.
As expected, Chiefs OLB Justin Houston (hamstring) is inactive for today's game against the Browns. It'll be his 4th straight missed contest. Breeland Speaks will get another start in his place and carries nice upside in the matchup.
Chiefs OLB Justin Houston is "considered very unlikely to play" against the Browns today, NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. Houston returned to practice this week after missing the past 3 games but doesn't sound ready for IDP lineups. If he's inactive, Breeland Speaks becomes an upside option for IDP owners.
Chiefs ILB Anthony Hitchens (ribs) and OLB Justin Houston (knee) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns. Both guys missed Wednesday's practice but then put in limited workouts the next 2 days. We'll see about their status Sunday morning. Each guy will be in play for IDP lineups if he's active.
Chiefs HC Andy Reid told reporters early Wednesday that he expected OLB Justin Houston to return to practice after missing 3 games with a hamstring injury. "He's going to do a little bit today but just very, very limited," Reid said. "But he is making progress." The team then listed Houston as a non-participant in the official practice report. So if Houston did anything, it couldn't have been much. It's nice that the veteran pass-rusher is making some progress, but he doesn't look like a good bet for this week's upside matchup with the Browns. If Houston remains out, OLB Breeland Speaks would be an option in deeper IDP leagues. Speaks has delivered 17 total pressures over K.C.'s past 4 games, starting with the contest Houston left early.
Chiefs OLB Justin Houston (hamstring) is doubtful for Sunday night's game against the Bengals. It'll be his 2nd straight missed game after Houston left Week 5 early with the injury. Kansas City also expects to remain without S Eric Berry (heel), who is also listed as "doubtful."
Chiefs OLB Justin Houston suffered a hamstring injury in Sunday's win over the Jaguars that could cost him a few weeks, according to NFL.com's Mike Garofolo. That would take a key pass rusher out of the Chiefs D for as long as Houston misses. We'll see how long he stays sidelined. IDP owners shouldn't have much trouble locating a replacement.
Chiefs OLB Justin Houston left Sunday's win over the Jaguars in the 1st half with a hamstring injury and did not return. We'll see about his status heading into a Sunday night matchup with the Patriots in Week 6.
Chiefs OLB Justin Houston is active for today's game against the Dolphins. He came in questionable with an illness but is fine for normal use in your IDP lineups.
Chiefs OLB Justin Houston (knee) is active for tonight's game against the Broncos, as expected. Houston seemed to get a maintenance day off from practice this week before turning up questionable for the game. We'll keep an eye on the status of his knee going forward.
Chiefs OLB Justin Houston is questionable for Monday night's game against the Broncos. It sounds like he'll play, though. “He’s going to be fine, he had that knee surgery and we’re just monitoring him as we go here,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Saturday, according to Pro Football Talk. “I gave him some time to just settle, but I think he’ll be fine.” That surgery came in winter 2016. Houston sat out practice Saturday after putting in limited work the previous 2 days. This sounds like a maintenance thing rather than a re-injury issue. We'll keep an eye on him going forward, but Houston should be available for IDP usage in Week 8.
Chiefs OLB Justin Houston missed practice Wednesday and Thursday and put in only a limited workout Friday because of a calf injury. But HC Andy Reid told the Kansas City Star on Friday that he'll play against the Steelers on Sunday, "barring any setbacks." So plan to have Houston available for your IDP lineup.
Chiefs OLB Justin Houston left in the 2nd half of Sunday night's game against the Texans with a calf injury. He was deemed questionable to return late in the 4th quarter, which seems to indicate that it's not serious. We'll keep an eye out for more information.
The Chiefs have ruled OLB Justin Houston (knee) out for Week 17. That's not surprising, considering the repaired joint has been bothering Houston for a couple of weeks. Missing him dings the pass-rushing upside a bit, but Dee Ford has enjoyed a breakthrough year and makes up for some of that in Houston's place. Overall, this news shouldn't alter your outlook for the K.C. team defense in fantasy.
Chiefs OLB Justin Houston (knee) is inactive for tonight's game against the Broncos. That takes away an IDP option that dominated the 1st meeting and also removes some upside from the Kansas City team D. We're still talking about the league leader in takeaways, though.
