The Panthers are placing DT Kawann Short on IR with a partially torn rotator cuff that will require surgery, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Short missed Sunday's win at Houston, and his absence certainly didn't seem to hurt the defense overall. The fill-in plan looks like a rotation. Only Dontari Poe and Gerald McCoy played more than 18 interior snaps against the Texans, and neither saw his playing time grow. Kyle Love, Vernon Butler and Efe Obada mixed in as well.
The Panthers will face the Texans today without CB Donte Jackson (groin) and DT Kawann Short (shoulder). Both are inactive after entering the day questionable. Their absences ding a defense already facing 1 of the league's more high-powered offenses. DE Bruce Irvin will play for the first time this season. He also entered questionable with a hamstring injury. We'll see how his return affects the playing time of rookie Brian Burns. The rookie should be your IDP play for Week 4, though, in an upside spot.
Panthers DT Kawann Short (shoulder) is inactive for today's game against the Cardinals. Short has garnered the top overall Pro Football Focus grade among Panthers starting D-linemen so far, rating higher as a pass-rusher than run defender. His absence doesn't significantly alter the fantasy outlook but certainly doesn't hurt Cardinals fantasy options.
Panthers DT Kawann Short is inactive for today's game against the Falcons because of a calf injury. That takes Carolina's best D-lineman out of the lineup, improving the matchup for Falcons RB Tevin Coleman. The 1st meeting found Coleman delivering 1 of his two 100-yard rushing lines so far this year.
Panthers DT Kawann Short is surprisingly active for tonight’s game against the Saints. Short entered the day doubtful, which should mean that IDP owners already went with someone else. If you were holding out, though, he’s available
Panthers DT Kawann Short is doubtful for Monday night's game against the Saints with a calf injury that kept him out of practice Friday and Saturday. We've knocked Short out of the Week 15 IDP rankings, where he was just a low-level option anyway.
