Washington has released starting ILB Mason Foster on the eve of the team opening training camp. Foster had spent offseason workouts in the same role he filled the past 2 years: starting MLB in the team's 3-4 base defense. His ouster leaves Shaun Dion Hamilton and recent signee Jon Bostic the likely inside starters. The move comes at the end of an offseason that saw fellow incumbent Zach Brown also get the boot and Reuben Foster tear an ACL. Bostic looks like the top IDP option there for now. We'll see what camp and the preseason reveal. Don't be surprised if the 30-year-old Mason Foster lands with another team.
Washington announced Thursday that it has re-signed ILB Mason Foster to an undisclosed contract. Foster opened 2017 starting next to Zach Brown but played only 5 games thanks to a shoulder injury that eventually landed him on IR. Fellow LBs Brown and Will Comptom also face free agency in March.
Washington LB Mason Foster (shoulder) is inactive for tonight's game against the Raiders. Will Compton will start in his place and is a suitable IDP replacement.
Washington LB Mason Foster is questionable for Sunday night's game against the Raiders with the shoulder injury he suffered in Week 2. Foster managed limited practices all week and should be on track to play. If you plan to wait for him Sunday night, though, roster Will Compton as insurance in case Foster turns up inactive. If your decision is close between Foster and another defender, though, go ahead and lean toward the other guy.
Washington ILB Will Compton (knee) is doubtful for Monday night's game against the Panthers. IDP owners should expect to be without him. Teammate Mason Foster racked up a season-high 12 solo tackles plus a sack last week, when Compton left early in the win over the Eagles.
Washington ILB Perry Riley suffered a stress fracture in his right foot in Thursday's practice. He had surgery Friday and is expected to miss 3 to 6 weeks, according to the Washington Post. With 5 games left, that might cost Riley the rest of the season. He's certainly not worth clinging to in IDP leagues either way. Mason Foster -- who signed with the team in October -- will fill in. The other ILB starter, Keenan Robinson, remains a question mark after missing the past 3 games with a shoulder injury. He put in limited practices Thursday and Friday but reportedly has yet to regain full range of motion. Will Compton has been starting in his place.
The Bears on Tuesday signed LB Mason Foster. The former Buc struggled as Tampa's middle starter, especially in coverage. But Foster is an athletic player with some big-play upside if he can land a 3-down role in Chicago's new D. Foster figures to compete for an ILB job in what's expected to primarily be a 3-4 front. LBs Jon Bostic, Christian Jones, Khaseem Greene and perhaps Shea McClellin stand as other current likely competitors inside.
Buccaneers LB Lavonte David (concussion) and DT Gerald McCoy (knee) are active for today's game at Carolina. Both had been questionable but expected to play. The Bucs won't, however, have DT Clinton McDonald (hamstring) or LB Mason Foster (Achilles'). Both are inactive but not huge losses for IDP owners. Go ahead and use David and McCoy as you normally would. Foster's continued absence should also keep LB Danny Lansanah a solid fantasy play.
Buccaneers LB Mason Foster and DT Clinton McDonald are inactive for today's game at Detroit. LB Lavonte David, however, will return after missing the past 2 weeks. Foster's absence should keep OLB Danny Lansanah in a full-time role, which gives him significant upside. He and David both look good for IDP usage this week.
Bucs LB Mason Foster (shoulder) is out for today's game against the Saints. He got in 3 limited practices this week, so he has a good chance to return for Week 6. LB Dane Fletcher gets another start in Foster's place.
Buccaneers DT Gerald McCoy is probable for Sunday's game against Pittsburgh. He put in limited practices all week after sitting out Week 3's loss to the Falcons because of a broken hand. McCoy will have to adjust to playing with a club on that hand, which has to hinder him at a position that depends so heavily on hand usage. That has him lower in our IDP rankings than usual. Bucs DE Michael Johnson is questionable on his sprained ankle despite playing last week and putting in limited practices Thursday and Friday. We'd guess that he'll play, but Johnson has been ineffective since spraining the ankle back in Week 1. Bucs MLB Mason Foster remains out with a shoulder injury.
Bucs DT Gerald McCoy (hand) is inactive for tonight’s meeting with the Falcons. LB Mason Foster (shoulder) is also out, but the Bucs received some good news as DE Michael Johnson (questionable, ankle) is healthy enough to suit up. It’s still a very favorable matchup for an Atlanta offense that could score 30+ points tonight.
The Bucs have ruled out MLB Mason Foster for the Thursday night game at Atlanta because of his separated shoulder. Dane Fletcher is expected to start in his place but is not worth any IDP attention at this point.
ESPN's Adam Caplan reports that Buccaneers MLB Mason Foster suffered a separated shoulder in Sunday's loss to the Rams. There's no word yet on how much time Foster might miss, but the team promoted another LB from the practice squad Monday. Dane Fletcher's in line to start while Foster is out but carries no immediate IDP appeal.
