ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Ravens TE Mark Andrews has been diagnosed with a contusion between his knee and thigh. "Indication is it’s nothing major," Schefter adds. It sounds like Andrews isn't looking at a long-term absence, but it's unclear if he'll be ready for Thursday night's game against the Jets. His absence would leave Baltimore with TEs Hayden Hurst and Nick Boyle.
Ravens TE Hayden Hurst is undergoing foot surgery on Friday to repair a stress fracture in his foot. He'll have a screw inserted to stabilize the area. NFL Network's Mike Garafolo reports that Hurst is expected to miss 3-4 weeks, but that sounds very optimistic to us. Foot injuries tend to be extremely tricky -- and we often see setbacks and/or compensatory issues pop up. Hurst seemed set to play a significant role in Baltimore's passing game, but this news should knock him out of your draft plans. Baltimore will open the season with some combination of Nick Boyle, Maxx Williams and rookie Mark Andrews at TE. None of them are worth picks in your fantasy draft. Hurst's absence should just mean more targets for WRs Michael Crabtree and John Brown.
The Baltimore Sun's Jeff Zrebiec believes Ravens TE Maxx Williams still isn't at 100% after undergoing offseason knee surgery. He avoided the PUP list and was active for the preseason opener, catching 1 pass for 3 yards. We'll keep an eye on his progress, but Williams isn't worth drafting right now. Zrebiec told us that the current pecking order at TE for Baltimore is: Nick Boyle, Ben Watson, Williams, Larry Donnell.
Ravens TE Benjamin Watson was on the field for Tuesday's minicamp practice. He's about 9 months removed from surgery to repair a torn Achilles. His recovery has taken on increased importance since Baltimore lost TE Dennis Pitta. Watson is 36 but posted a 74-825-6 line in his last action back in 2015 with the Saints. He'll duke it out with Maxx Williams, Crockett Gillmore, Nick Boyle and Darren Waller for playing time this year.
Ravens HC John Harbaugh ruled TE Crockett Gillmore (back) out for Week 15 on Wednesday. Harbaugh added that Gillmore "probably is done for the year." That'll leave TE duties to Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle. Neither is a reliable fantasy option.
Ravens TE Crockett Gillmore (calf) is out for Sunday’s game against the Browns. He didn’t practice at all this week. TEs Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle split TE snaps in Gillmore’s absence last week, so it’s tough to trust either in fantasy lineups.
Ravens TE Crockett Gillmore (calf) was unable to practice again on Thursday. He seems unlikely to be ready for this weekend's game against the Browns. TEs Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle split targets with Gillmore out last week.
Ravens TE Crockett Gillmore (calf) remained sidelined for Wednesday's practice. He's questionable at best to be ready for this weekend's game against the Browns. TEs Maxx Williams and Nick Boyle split targets (4-4) with Gillmore out last week.
