Paul Worrilow Fantasy Football News 2019

The Eagles on Tuesday released OLB Mychal Kendricks, after several years of trade/cut rumors spanning 2 coaching staffs. The 27-year-old (until late September) figures to quickly get a shot somewhere else. Kendricks is a top-shelf athlete among LBs and has produced across categories when playing full-time snaps. His departure opens the lead weak-side role, though we'll see if that means more snaps for his replacement. One potential replacement, veteran Paul Worrilow, suffered an ACL tear in Tuesday's on-field workout and will miss the season.

The Lions plan to play 1st-round LB Jarrad Davis in the middle "we hope for many years to come," GM Bob Quinn told the Detroit Free Press. But Davis will have to compete with others in the corps before settling into his spot. "He's a guy that we feel that can play mike (middle) and will (weak-side) so we’re going to put him in the mix with all the guys we have on the roster and just kind of figure out what’s the best way to use him," Quinn said. "But he definitely has position flexibility." Davis should quickly emerge as the top player in the group, however, and lock down a starting job either on the middle or the weak side. Meanwhile, Tahir Whitehead is no lock to remain in the lineup after a breakthrough fantasy season in 2016, which particularly found him struggling in coverage. Free-agent addition Paul Worrilow will also compete, along with 4th-round rookie Jalen Reeves-Maybin. Quinn said the team likes Reeves-Maybin on the weak side. The whole competition will be interesting to watch for IDP owners.

Falcons LB Paul Worrilow is inactive for today's game against the Jaguars because of a knee injury. Nate Stupar will start in his place, with Philip Wheeler also seeing time. Justin Durant's the top Atlanta LB option for IDP lineups if you need 1, but you can probably find a better fantasy football prospect elsewhere.

The Falcons have ruled S William Moore (groin) and LB Justin Durant (calf) out for Sunday's game at San Francisco. The defense will also miss CB Robert Alford (groin) and rookie DE Vic Beasley (foot). None of those player absences significantly alters the positive outlook for the Atlanta team D against Blaine Gabbert's Niners this weekend. Durant's absence raises the tackle ceiling for MLB Paul Worrilow in IDP leagues, however. CB Desmond Trufant is probable after putting in a full workout Friday. He missed some time this week with a back injury. He's not much of an IDP factor but helps the team D.

Falcons LB Paul Worrilow is probable for Sunday's visit to the Cowboys. A calf injury limited his practice time this week, but he appears ready to use as you normally would in your IDP lineup.

Falcons ILB Paul Worrilow missed the 2nd half of Sunday's win at the Giants with what HC Dan Quinn called a "bad" calf bruise. The injury has Worrilow day to day, so we'll keep an eye on his status for Sunday's trip to Dallas. The 1 p.m. ET kickoff will at least make it easier for IDP owners to wait if Worrilow's questionable. Consider Falcons LB Justin Durant an insurance option.

Falcons OLB Sean Weatherspoon told reporters today that he will start Sunday's game in Tampa at his familiar weak-side spot.  The team reportedly plans to shift Paul Worrilow over to the middle and keep Joplo Bartu on the strong side.  Worrilow, of course, is coming off 2 straight 19-tackle outings while filling in for Weatherspoon on the weak side.  'Spoon will see his 1st action since a Week 2 Lisfranc injury, so it's quite possible he'll need to knock off a little rust.  It's also quite possible the team will ease him back in at less than his full snap count.  That makes Weatherspoon a risky IDP prospect for Week 11 -- albeit 1 with upside.  We'll also have to see whether Worrilow will remain a 3-down player.  His tremendous production over the past 2 games makes him worth the gamble in your IDP lineup this week, though.  Let's hope Sunday's game at least answers our questions so that we fantasy football owners can tap into the well of IDP value in this LB corps the rest of the way.
The Falcons have activated LB Sean Weatherspoon from IR (designated to return) following a September foot injury.  Weatherspoon returned to practice last week and is expected to play against the Bucs this Sunday.  It's not yet clear whether he'll jump back into a full role right away.  We'd prefer to wait at least a week before restoring him to fantasy football lineups, but now's the time to add the star 'backer to your IDP roster.  Weatherspoon brings top 10 scoring potential among fantasy LBs.
