The Steelers have officially ended the season of ILB Ryan Shazier by placing him on IR. It was an obviously inevitable move following his scary back injury in the Monday night win over the Bengals. Shazier has since had surgery to stabilize the area and made some slow progress. We'll see what his future holds beyond 2017. Pittsburgh started recently signed Sean Spence in his place against Baltimore, with Tyler Matakevich also sidelined.
Steelers ILB Ryan Shazier left on a stretcher in the 1st half of Monday night's game against the Bengals after a scary collision left him with a back injury. The team announced that Shazier had been taken to a local hospital for further evaluation but that there would be "no further updates at this time." Former NFL team doctor David Chao said from initial view of the video that there is "real worry" of a significant spinal injury here. We'll see what the examining doctors find. LB Tyler Matakevich entered when Shazier left.
Steelers LB Ryan Shazier made it through a full practice Friday for the 1st time in a little more than 2 weeks, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Shazier initially left practice in the 1st week of training camp with what was thought to be a minor hamstring pull. But multiple attempts to return since then found him leaving early. “It felt great,” he said after Friday's practice. “I'm happy to be back in the mix … and it was good to be running around and just seeing football from inside my helmet instead of from the sideline.” Shazier, who has played in just 34 of a possible 48 games over 3 NFL seasons, said he has yet to make a tackle in camp practice. There's time to get ready for the opener if he can avoid further setbacks, but it's a worrisome situation for a guy with breakout talent. Keep his durability risk in mind when drafting your IDP starters, but finding insurance/replacements at LB isn't hard in most fantasy football leagues.
Steelers LB Ryan Shazier told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review that his sprained right MCL is feeling better, but it doesn't sound like he'll be in the Week 6 lineup. “It's definitely feeling a lot better than two to three weeks ago,” Shazier said. “I'm doing everything I can to make sure I have everything covered.” Shazier said he hopes to return before the Week 8 bye, so IDP owners should expect him to be out this week. We'll see about Week 7.
The Steelers have ruled LB Ryan Shazier out for the 2nd straight game with a knee injury. That means LB Vince Williams will start in his place again after racking up 15 tackles in last week's win over the Chiefs.. We've added Williams to the Week 5 LB rankings.
The Steelers have ruled LB Ryan Shazier (knee) and S Robert Golden (hamstring) out for Sunday night's game against the Chiefs.
Steelers HC Mike Tomlin on Tuesday called ILB Ryan Shazier "very questionable" for Sunday night's game against the Chiefs, according to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Shazier aggravated a knee injury that he originally suffered in Week 1. IDP owners should be wary of him even if he makes it back for the game. Shazier was in and out of Sunday's loss to the Eagles, ultimately playing less than half of the snaps and performing poorly.
As expected, Steelers ILB Ryan Shazier (knee) is active against the Bengals today. He said during the week that he felt back to "100 percent." Use him as you normally would in your IDP league.
Steelers LB Ryan Shazier practiced Friday and told the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review afterward that his knee feels "100 percent." Whether that's true or not, he should be ready for full usage against the Bengals on Sunday. And that means Shazier belongs in your IDP lineup.
Steelers ILB Ryan Shazier left Monday night's win at Washington in the 4th quarter after suffering a knee injury. He told reporters afterward that he felt good, however. CBS' Jason La Canfora reports that the team hopes it's merely a "day-to-day" situation, but HC Mike Tomlin told reporters Monday that he'd have no update until Shazier finished getting it checked by a doctor. We'll hope this isn't a problem, but we've seen seemingly minor physical issues cost Shazier multiple games in the past. Let's watch him closely after an inspired fantasy performance against Washington.
Steelers LB Ryan Shazier cleared the concussion protocol this week and is expected to play Sunday night against the Colts. He's fine to use as you normally would in your IDP league.
Steelers ILB Ryan Shazier left in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game at Seattle to get checked for a concussion. CBS' Tracy Wolfson said Shazier is "going through the concussion protocol," though it wasn't clear if he had actually been diagnosed with a concussion yet. We'll keep an eye out for updates.
Steelers LB Ryan Shazier (knee) is active for today's game against the Seahawks. He makes for a strong IDP play against Seattle, especially given the frequency with which he rushes the passer.
Steelers ILB Ryan Shazier is questionable for Sunday's game at Seattle with a knee issue. He put in full practices Wednesday and Friday, though, sitting out Thursday in the between. The LB didn't seem to have any doubt about his status after Friday's workout, though. "Yeah I'm ready to go," Shazier said, according to PennLive.com. "I'm playing." The 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff means you'll need to wait to see if he's active, but we'd go ahead and plan to start him. Available insurance options might include teammate Lawrence Timmons, Cardinals LB Kevin Minter, Seahawks LB K.J. Wright and Broncos LB Danny Trevathan.
Steelers DE Stephon Tuitt will miss Sunday's game against the Chiefs with the sprained knee that kept him out of practice all week. That's a significant loss for IDP owners, given his recent performance, so we'll keep an eye on whether this looks like a multi-week injury. On the positive side, LB Ryan Shazier looks like he's finally ready to return. He has been out since Week 2 with a shoulder injury, but the Steelers list him as probable for Sunday.
Steelers HC Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that LB Ryan Shazier (shoulder) "should play" Sunday, according to Ed Bouchette of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. Shazier hasn't played since a Week 2 shoulder injury despite limited practices for a couple of weeks now. We'll be watching his status this week. Tomlin also said the team will have to see how DE Stephon Tuitt fares in practice this week. He suffered a knee sprain in Sunday's win over the Cardinals. Tuitt has delivered strong IDP numbers so far. Shazier enjoyed a big Week 2 before his injury.
The Steelers have ruled LB Ryan Shazier out for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. That'll make 4 straight games missed for his Week 2 shoulder injury and comes as a bit of a surprise after Shazier put in some limited practice time this week. We'll hope for a Week 7 return at Kansas City. Shazier's absence again increases the tackle upside for ILB Lawrence Timmons. Sean Spence will start in Shazier's place again, coming off a pair of good fantasy outings. We've added Spence to our Week 6 LB rankings, though the Cardinals have presented the worst matchup so far for LB scoring.
