Scott Tolzien Fantasy Football News 2019

The Colts will start QB Jacoby Brissett against the Cardinals on Sunday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's not a surprising development given Scott Tolzien's horrid Week 1 against the Rams -- and previous lackluster play. Of course, Brissett just joined the team after the 4th set of preseason games and reportedly still split 1st-team reps with Tolzien in practice this week. The move can't hurt for the Colts' other skill guys. But Brissett is no more than a cheap DFS consideration for fantasy purposes this week. When Andrew Luck will return remains a mystery.

Colts HC Chuck Pagano ruled out QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) for Week 2 on Monday. No surprise here. The decision so early in the week is just confirmation that Luck isn't particularly close to a return. We'd consider Week 4 the best-case scenario at this point. Pagano wouldn't say whether Scott Tolzien or Jacoby Brissett will start at QB vs. the Cardinals on Sunday, but neither should be in your fantasy plans.

Colts GM Chris Ballard officially ruled out QB Andrew Luck (shoulder) for this Sunday's opener against the Rams. "He's in the training phase right now," Ballard added. "Mentally, he's in the best place he's been." It's been clear for a while now that Luck wouldn't be ready for the opener. Getting ruled out so early in the week is a reminder that he's uncertain for Week 2 and beyond. QB Scott Tolzien will start vs. the Rams. He's not a fantasy option and lowers the fantasy ceiling on all of Indianapolis' skill-position guys.

Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) has officially been ruled out for Thursday night's game against Steelers. He'll try to gain clearance ahead of Week 13's game vs. the Jets. QB Scott Tolzien will make his 1st start in 3 years. He's obviously a big downgrade for the entire offense. Expect a bunch of Frank Gore on Thanksgiving.

As expected, Colts QB Andrew Luck (concussion) did not practice on Tuesday. He's a long shot to be cleared in time for Thursday night's game against the Steelers. That leaves QB Scott Tolzien as Indy's likely starter. On 91 career regular-season attempts, he's tossed 1 TD vs. 5 INTs.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy said Monday that QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) has a "slim to none chance" to play against the Lions on Thursday.  Rodgers seems to be making progress -- he resumed running and throwing last week -- but is still at risk of aggravating that injury.  The short week didn't do him any favors.  We're tentatively expecting Rodgers to return for Week 14.  McCarthy declined to name a starter for Thanksgiving, but we're fully expecting it to be Matt Flynn.  He'll be an intriguing option in 2-QB fantasy leagues.

Packers QB Scott Tolzien was replaced by QB Matt Flynn in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game against the Vikings.  Tolzien completed just 7 of 17 passes for 98 yards.  Green Bay is desperate to get QB Aaron Rodgers back.  He's considered questionable for Thursday's game against the Lions.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy named QB Scott Tolzien his Week 12 starter.  It's surprising that he's already made that decision since QB Aaron Rodgers (collarbone) was hoping to return this week.  "Haven't met with medical staff. No update," McCarthy said of Rodgers' status.  "I don't make medical decisions. Will be no different with Aaron Rodgers."  A-Rodg will now target a return for Thanksgiving against the Lions.  That or Week 14 has always been considered his most likely return date.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy named QB Scott Tolzien his Week 11 starter.  It's unclear if that's because of QB Seneca Wallace's groin injury or Tolzien's play.  Called up from the practice squad this week, Tolzien completed 24 of 39 passes for 280 yards, 1 TD and 2 INTs against the Eagles.  It was an uneven performance, but Tolzien looks like he gives this passing game a better chance than Wallace.  We still wouldn't be running to waiver wires to add him, though.
