The 49ers have inked WR Travis Benjamin to a 1-year deal. Injuries limited the 30-year-old to just 5 appearances for the Chargers last season. But Benjamin averaged over 14 yards per catch in each of his first 7 NFL campaigns. He'll provide a field-stretching threat for QB Jimmy Garoppolo and the 'Niners -- but Benjamin is a long shot to hold real fantasy value in 2020.
Chargers WRs Mike Williams (back) and Travis Benjamin (hip) are both active for today’s game against the Broncos. Williams is an upside WR3 play with CB Chris Harris likely to shadow WR Keenan Allen.
Chargers WRs Mike Williams (back) and Travis Benjamin (hip) are listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Broncos. They both put in full practices on Friday, so we’re expecting them to play. Williams has intriguing upside with CB Chris Harris likely to shadow WR Keenan Allen on Sunday.
Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. He was sidelined all last week before missing the game against Miami. It looks like Williams has a shot to return for Sunday's game vs. the Broncos. WR Travis Benjamin (hip) was also limited Wednesday. We'll get another update on both guys tomorrow.
Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (hip) is inactive for today’s game against the Dolphins. With WR Mike Williams (back) also out, it’ll be Dontrelle Inman operating as Los Angeles’ #2 WR. He’s a WR4 or flex option in this pristine matchup.
Chargers WRs Mike Williams (back) is out for Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. We haven’t heard any details on the back injury or how much longer Williams will be sidelined. WR Travis Benjamin (hip) is listed as doubtful for Week 4, so it looks like Dontrelle Inman will operate as Los Angeles’ #2 WR on Sunday. The juicy matchup makes him a WR4 or flex consideration.
Chargers WR Mike Williams (back) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. We still haven't heard anything about the back issue, but it looks like he's in real danger of missing this weekend's pristine spot against the Dolphins. WR Travis Benjamin (hip) has also missed the first 2 practices of the week, so Dontrelle Inman might be Los Angeles' #2 WR vs. Miami.
Chargers WR Mike Williams (knee) missed practice again on Thursday. He's looking unlikely to be ready for this weekend's game against the Lions. That'd leave Travis Benjamin and Dontrelle Inman as Los Angeles' #2 and #3 WRs.
Chargers WR Mike Williams (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. We still don't have any details on the injury he sustained in last weekend's opener, but HC Anthony Lynn admitted that he's "absolutely" concerned about Williams' availability for Sunday's game against the Lions. His absence would leave Travis Benjamin and Dontrelle Inman behind Keenan Allen on the WR depth chart.
NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Chargers WR Keenan Allen (knee) is expected to play against the 49ers today. He only got in a limited practice on Friday, so don't expect him to be at 100%. But Allen still belongs in season-long lineups in a plum matchup. WR Travis Benjamin (foot) is also expected back for the Chargers today, per Rapoport. It's all good news for QB Philip Rivers.
Chargers TE Travis Benjamin (foot) is inactive for today’s game against the Rams. Tyrell Williams and Mike Williams will serve as the #2 and #3 WRs, but neither is a strong fantasy play vs. a tough group of Rams CBs.
Chargers TE Travis Benjamin (foot) is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game against the Rams after a limited week of practice. He was reportedly close to playing last weekend, so we’re expecting him to give it a go here. Benjamin isn’t a fantasy option, though, against a stout Rams secondary.
Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (foot) is inactive for today’s game against the Bills. That opens up extra snaps for Tyrell Williams and especially Mike Williams. Both guys are upside WR4s.
Chargers WR Travis Benjamin (foot) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Bills. He was in a walking boot as of Wednesday. We’ll get Benjamin’s official status by noon ET on Sunday, but he shouldn’t be in your Week 2 fantasy plans. His absence would push a few extra targets to WRs Keenan Allen, Tyrell Williams and Mike Williams.
Chargers WR Travis Benjamin has missed the first 2 practices of the week with a right foot injury. He was in a walking boot on Wednesday. Benjamin played 57% of the offensive snaps and saw 5 targets last week, so his absence would be significant -- and a boost to WRs Tyrell and Mike Williams.
Chargers TE Hunter Henry suffered a torn ACL in Tuesday's OTA session, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. "Did it during a drill, running downfield, untouched," Schefter tweeted. Freed from Antonio Gates' shadow, Henry was a prime breakout candidate entering his 3rd NFL season. He'll now miss the entire 2018 campaign. With Virgil Green now sitting atop the depth chart, the Chargers might consider bringing Gates back. The loss of Henry dings QB Philip Rivers' fantasy outlook and frees up targets for WRs Keenan Allen, Mike Williams, Tyrell Williams and Travis Benjamin.
Chargers WR Travis Benjamin underwent arthroscopic surgery on his right knee after the season, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan. It was presumably to address the sprained PCL Benjamin suffered in Week 6. He played in 8 of the final 10 games but topped 56 yards in just 1 of those. He did so in 3 of his first 6 games. A healthier Benjamin will be a boon to San Diego's offense in 2017, but he might have trouble besting this past year's 47-677-4 line. Keenan Allen and Tyrell Williams figure to sit ahead of Benjamin on the depth chart going forward.
