Shark Bites

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) has been ruled out for Monday night's game against the Packers. But RB Alexander Mattison (ankle) is listed as questionable after returning to individual drills on Saturday. That throws a bit of a wrinkle into fantasy owners hoping to use RB Mike Boone this week. We'll continue to look for updates on Mattison's status.

Vikings RBs Dalvin Cook (shoulder) and Alexander Mattison (ankle) remained sidelined for Friday's practice. It continues to look like Mike Boone will serve as Minnesota's lead back against the Packers on Monday night. We'll get another update on the situation tomorrow.

Vikings RB Alexander Mattison (ankle) remained sidelined for Thursday's practice. He didn't practice at all last week and seems unlikely to play against the Packers on Monday night. With RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) also expected to miss that one, Mike Boone will operate as Minnesota's lead back.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is "unlikely" to play against the Packers on Monday night, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. RB Alexander Mattison is iffy for that one with his ankle injury, leaving RB Mike Boone as Minnesota's likely starter. Boone carried 13 times for 56 yards and 2 scores in last week's win over the Chargers and averaged an impressive 4.8 yards per carry this preseason. If Mattison is out on Monday night, Boone will be in the RB2 mix.

The Titans have signed K Greg Joseph from the Panthers practice squad, Pro Football Talk reports. K Ryan Succop has converted just 1 of 6 FG attempts since returning from injury and might be on the outs. Avoid this situation in Week 16 fantasy lineups.

Update: Succop has been placed on IR with a knee injury. Joseph will take over as Tennessee's kicker.

ESPN's Adam Schefter said during halftime of the Monday night game that he'd "be surprised" if Vikings RB Dalvin Cook plays again this regular season. Cook re-injured his shoulder in Sunday's win over the Chargers. HC Mike Zimmer said Monday, though, that Cook "feels good." Schefter didn't present his words as a report from the team or a source near it, so don't take this as gospel. Alexander Mattison and Mike Boone should be grabbed anywhere they're available this week, though, in case Cook sits out Monday night against the Packers.

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer said Monday that RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) "feels good" but admitted his status is uncertain for Monday night's game against the Packers. “It’s too early, but the extra day helps," Zimmer said. "We’ll just have to see how the week goes.” We'll of course keep a close eye on Cook throughout this week, but RBs Alexander Mattison and Mike Boone should be owned in all fantasy leagues.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook suffered what appeared to be a left shoulder injury in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game against the Chargers. He was down on the field for a few minutes in obvious pain. Note that it was a right shoulder injury that he'd been dealing with previously. We'll update Cook's status as soon as we know more. RB Alexander Mattison is out today with an ankle injury, leaving Minnesota with RBs Mike Boone and Ameer Abdullah.

Update: Cook was quickly ruled out for the rest of the game.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) practiced all week and isn't listed on the final injury report. He'll return for Sunday's game against the Chargers. Thielen has had a couple of setbacks with this hamstring, but Minnesota seemed to be very cautious bringing him back this time. We're expecting Thielen to play his usual role this weekend.

Vikings RB Alexander Mattison (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Chargers. That leaves Mike Boone and Ameer Abdullah behind Dalvin Cook on the depth chart. Mattison's absence could certainly mean a few extra touches for Cook.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) is expected back for Sunday's game against the Chargers, "barring a setback in practice this week." Of course, Thielen has had a couple of setbacks with this hammy already, so don't consider him a lock for Week 15 just yet. We'll see how he fares in practice over the next few days.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (chest) came out of Sunday's win over the Lions feeling good. “I’m good. I’m good to go,” Cook said afterward. “I came out healthy — clean, so that’s a positive sign.” Cook handled 14 of 22 backfield touches in the 1st half, garnered 6 more touches in the 3rd quarter and then got the 4th quarter off with the Vikings up by 20. He'll remain a must-start for Week 15 against the Chargers.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game against the Lions. He’s reportedly expected back next week. Olabisi Johnson will again serve as Minnesota’s #2 WR today but isn’t much of a fantasy option. TE Kyle Rudolph is the best bet for targets behind WR Stefon Diggs.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) won't play against the Lions today. Thielen is working to get scar tissue out of that injured hamstring, per Rapoport, but Minnesota is "optimistic" that he'll be back next week. WR Stefon Diggs and TE Kyle Rudolph are the 2 best fantasy bets in the Vikings passing game today.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (chest) isn't listed on the final injury report and will play against the Lions this weekend. Cook obviously comes with elevated risk after exiting last week's game early in the 3rd quarter. But he's nearly impossible to bench in fantasy vs. Detroit's 30th-ranked RB defense.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Lions. He won’t play in that one and should be considered iffy for Week 15 after missing practice all week. Thielen’s absence keeps TE Kyle Rudolph in play as a fantasy starter.

Vikings HC Mike Zimmer confirmed on Thursday that RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is on track to play against the Lions this weekend and will be "close to 100%." Cook, of course, was knocked out of last week's game near the beginning of the 3rd quarter after aggravating the shoulder injury originally suffered in Week 11. He comes with elevated risk in Week 14 fantasy lineups but is nearly impossible to bench vs. Detroit's 30th-ranked RB defense.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) didn't participate in the team's walkthrough practice on Wednesday. He seemed set to return last week before suffering his 2nd setback with this injury. Fantasy owners should plan on being without Thielen again for Week 14 at this point. We'll see if he's able to practice tomorrow.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook has been told that he can't make his shoulder injury worse by playing through it. It's a pain tolerance issue, and Cook reiterated that he'll play against the Lions this weekend. There's still elevated risk here, especially in a game Minnesota should control easily. But an active Cook would be impossible to bench in fantasy.

Vikings RB Dalvin Cook aggravated an SC joint injury in his right shoulder in Monday night's loss to the Seahawks, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. The original injury occurred in the Week 11 game against the Broncos. Minnesota had a Week 12 bye and then listed Cook on this week's injury report with a chest issue. Cook told Pelissero after Monday night's game that his absence in the 2nd half was "precautionary" and that he'll be "good to go" for Week 14's game against the Lions. Former head team Dr. David Chao writes that the injury doesn't require surgery but Cook's "ability to play and be effective will be a matter of pain tolerance." We'll obviously keep a close eye on him throughout this week. RB Alexander Mattison needs to be owned in all fantasy leagues. He'll be an easy fantasy starter if Cook misses more time.
