Shark Bites

Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) is out for Sunday's game against the Bears. He didn't practice all week and isn't a lock to be cleared for Week 15. Mixon's absence this weekend leaves Gio Bernard in something close to a feature role. The only other RB on the Bengals' roster is 5th-round rookie Brian Hill, who joined Cincinnati in mid-November and doesn't have an NFL carry to his name. The matchup isn't ideal against Chicago's 11th-ranked RB defense, but volume makes Bernard a strong RB2 play. He's handled 15+ touches in in 25 NFL games and averaged 14.8 PPR points in those outings.

The Bengals have placed LB Nick Vigil on IR with his ankle injury. They will also miss fellow starting LB Vontaze Burfict (concussion) for Sunday's game against the Bears, along with S Shawn Williams (hamstring), CB Dre Kirkpatrick (concussion) and CB Adam Jones (groin). According to Bengals.com's Geoff Hobson, HC Marvin Lewis expects DT Geno Atkins (toe) to play after missing some practice time this week. LBs Kevin Minter and Vincent Rey figure to see more snaps and enter IDP relevance, as long as the hamstring issue that limited Rey's participation this week doesn't keep him out.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) remain sidelined on Thursday. With multiple stages of the protocol to pass through still, he's a long shot to play against the Bears this weekend. That'd make Gio Bernard something close to a feature back. The only other RB on Cincinnati's roster is 5th-round rookie Brian Hill.

The Bengals have placed WR John Ross on IR. It ends a woefully disappointing rookie season for the 9th overall pick of this spring's draft. Ross appeared in 3 games, played 17 snaps and touched the ball once -- a 12-yard carry way back in Week 2 on which he lost a fumble. He caught 0 of 2 targets. Ross fell behind after offseason shoulder surgery, hurt his knee in late August and also dealt with an ankle injury during the middle of the season. Durability remains a major concern for a guy who entered the league with an extensive injury history.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday. That's not a surprise considering he suffered the head injury just 2 days ago. Mixon probably needs to return to a limited practice tomorrow to have any shot of playing this weekend. Fantasy owners should proceed as if he won't play. That'd leave Gio Bernard in a feature role.

Bengals CB Dre Kirkpatrick suffered a concussion in Monday night's loss to the Steelers. The short week makes it tough to expect him to be available for Sunday's game against the Bears. That's a low-floor IDP matchup for the slot corner anyway, though.

Bengals RB Joe Mixon left in the 2nd quarter against the Steelers to be evaluated for head and shoulder injuries, according to ESPN's Lisa Salters. He's questionable to return. Gio Bernard took over backfield duties after Mixon left.

Update: The Bengals have ruled Mixon out for the game with a concussion. The shortened week won't help his chances of returning for Sunday's game against the Bears.

The Bengals will go without LB Nick Vigil (ankle), LB Vincent Rey (hamstring) and S Shawn Williams tonight against the Steelers. That could mean more snaps for LBs Jordan Evans and Carl Lawson, with Lawson the higher-upside option for his pass-rushing but Evans the safer tackle bet. FS George Iloka was the only Bengals safety to play at least half the snaps with Williams out last week.

Bengals CB Darqueze Dennard (knee) is active for today's game against the Browns. It's an upside spot for his IDP outlook against DeShone Kizer, though the knee adds risk. He only put in a limited workout Friday of this week.

Bengals CB Darqueze Dennard (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Browns. He sat out practice Wednesday and Thursday before putting in a limited workout Friday and looks risky for IDP lineups even if he plays. We'd try to go in another direction. S Shawn Williams (hamstring), meanwhile, has been ruled out.

Bengals TE Tyler Eifert recently underwent surgery to remove a cyst on his knee, according to ESPN's Dan Graziano. Eifert is already recovering from an October back surgery that's expected to sideline him 4-6 months. We'll be curious to see what kind of deal he lands when he hits free agency in March,

The Bengals have waived K Marshall Koehn. It means K Randy Bullock (back) is ready for Sunday's game against the Titans. Tennessee has allowed the 3rd most fantasy points to Ks, but Bullock remains a middling fantasy option on a Cincinnati offense ranked dead last in yards per game.

Bengals WR A.J. Green will not be suspended by the NFL, according to insider Jim Owczarski. The league presumably feels the 2-and-a-half quarters he missed of yesterday's game against the Jaguars was enough punishment. It's a good break for fantasy owners -- especially considering Green was unlikely to do much vs. Jacksonville's shut-down secondary anyway. He'll be a WR1 for this weekend's game against the Titans.

Bengals WR A.J. Green was ejected in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Jaguars after getting into a fight with CB Jalen Ramsey, who was also given the boot. Green put Ramsey in a choke hold, tossed him to the ground and then threw multiple punches. We'll see if he faces discipline beyond Week 9. He finishes this one with 1 catch for 6 yards.

Bengals DE Michael Johnson is active for today's game against the Jaguars. He's a weak IDP option, though, with a back issue that forced him out of last week's game early.

Bengals WR John Ross is a healthy scratch for today's game against the Jaguars. The rookie is still looking for his 1st NFL catch and isn't worth a roster spot in redraft leagues.

Bengals K Randy Bullock (back) is inactive for today’s game against the Jaguars. Marshall Koehn will kick in his place. You should be able to do better in fantasy lineups.

Bengals DE Michael Johnson (back) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. Johnson put in limited practices Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday's. He's not worth waiting on for IDP owners, but we'll update his status Sunday in case you need to.

Bengals K Randy Bullock (back) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Jaguars. We'll see if Cincinnati adds a K, but Bullock shouldn't be in Week 9 fantasy lineups at less than 100% and in a tough matchup.

Bengals WR John Ross (ankle) is not listed on the final Week 8 injury report. He should be active for Sunday’s game against the Colts. The rookie can’t be trusted in fantasy lineups right now but doesn’t hurt QB Andy Dalton’s prospects — especially vs. a defense that’s allowed a league-high 40 pass plays of 20+ yards.
