Falcons RB Tevin Coleman returned to a limited practice on Wednesday -- his 1st since sustaining a concussion in Week 14. It gives him a shot to play against the Saints this weekend. We'll continue to track Coleman's progress.
Falcons RB Tevin Coleman (concussion) has been ruled out for Monday night's game against the Bucs. He didn't practice all week and seemingly hasn't made much -- if any -- progress through the protocol. Coleman's absence makes RB Devonta Freeman a good bet for 20+ touches vs. Tampa's 24th-ranked RB defense.
Falcons RB Tevin Coleman remains in the concussion protocol and did not practice on Friday. He has an extra day to get cleared with Atlanta heading to Tampa Bay for Monday Night Football, but Coleman isn't looking like a good bet to play in that one. His absence would turn Devonta Freeman into a workhorse and an elite RB1.
Falcons RB Tevin Coleman sustained a concussion late in Thursday night's win over the Saints, HC Dan Quinn announced Friday. Coleman missed 2 games with a concussion back in 2015. He'll have 10 days to pass through the protocol this time around. We'll track his progress next week.
The 49ers confirmed Monday that QB Jimmy Garoppolo will start Sunday at Houston, according to ESPN. He enjoyed a solid debut at Chicago in Week 13, completing 26 of 37 passes (70.3%) for 293 yards with 0 TDs and an INT. The Texans matchup puts Garoppolo on the DFS radar for Week 14, but don't overrate him for season-long leagues.
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan informed his QBs on Tuesday that Jimmy Garoppolo will start this weekend's game against the Bears. Garoppolo has been with the team for just about a month, so he figures to be working with a dumbed-down playbook. He'll also be facing a solid defense that's allowed just 6 passing scores in 6 home games this season. Garoppolo is no better than a low-end QB2 for Week 13. A solid showing on Sunday would make him more intriguing for a plus Week 14 matchup vs. Houston.
49ers QB C.J. Beathard has a knee contusion and a hip strain, HC Kyle Shanahan said Monday. Neither injury is considered serious. Shanny plans to announce his Week 13 starting QB on Wednesday. Neither Beathard nor Jimmy Garoppolo will be more than a lower-end QB2 in Chicago.
49ers QB C.J. Beathard suffered a lower-leg injury late in Sunday's loss to the Seahawks, HC Kyle Shanahan said afterward. QB Jimmy Garoppolo came on for a brief cameo, completing both of his passes for 18 yards and a score. We should learn more about Beathard's injury tomorrow.
Niners DT Solomon Thomas (knee) is active for today's game against the Seahawks for the 1st time since suffering a sprained ligament in Week 8 against the Eagles. Thomas is an IDP option at full health but will be risky in his 1st game back.
Niners DL Solomon Thomas is questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks with the knee sprain that has kept him out since Week 8. He put in limited practices all week but will be risky to play in IDP leagues whenever he makes his return to the field. We'll check on his status Sunday.
49ers TE George Kittle (ankle) isn’t listed on the final Week 12 injury report. He’ll play against the Seahawks on Sunday after missing San Francisco’s last game. Kittle should take back over as the lead pass-catching TE but would be a desperation fantasy play.
49ers HC Kyle Shanahan named QB C.J. Beathard his starter for Sunday's game against the Seahawks. He turned in his best performance of the season last time out, completing 76% of his passes for 288 yards and 2 TDs in a win over the Giants. That said, Beathard will hit the bench as soon as Shanahan thinks QB Jimmy Garoppolo is ready.
Niners DL Solomon Thomas (knee) is inactive for today's game against the Giants. It's his 2nd straight game out with a sprained knee ligament. CB K'Waun Williams (quad) is active but not much of a factor for IDP owners or the 49ers defense in general.
It doesn't come as a surprise, but 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan confirmed that QB C.J. Beathard will start Sunday's game against the Giants, with Jimmy Garoppolo as his backup. Beathard's a streaming option in a game that looks ugly from all sides. The situation might add a little risk that severe struggles lead the rookie to be pulled for Garoppolo mid game. We already saw Shanahan replace Brian Hoyer with Beathard in such a manor. We expect Garoppolo to step in as the starter at some point before this season's over.
Seahawks CB Richard Sherman ruptured his right Achilles' tendon in Thursday night's win over the Cardinals and will miss the rest of the season. That damages a Seattle defense that has already showed cracks at points this season. It improves the individual matchups for WRs in the weeks to come, starting with Julio Jones in Week 11.
49ers TE George Kittle (ankle) is out for Week 10, HC Kyle Shanahan announced on Monday. The rookie hobbled through the injury in yesterday's loss to the Cardinals but will now miss a plus matchup against the Giants. Kittle's absence leaves San Francisco with TEs Garrett Celek and Cole Hikutini.
The 49ers lost another player to injury in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals. S Jaquiski Tartt broke his right wrist and is likely to miss the rest of the season. The defense lost starting S Jimmie Ward to a season-ending arm fracture just the week before. We'll see about the team's plan for replacing Tartt.
The 49ers have acquired QB Jimmy Garoppolo from the Patriots in exchange for a 2018 2nd-round pick. So a guy who once was considered a potential Tom Brady successor now becomes San Francisco's latest crack at finding a franchise QB. He's set to hit free agency this offseason, but we'd imagine that the 'Niners have a new contract lined up for him. Garoppolo has been consistently impressive in preseason action and completed 71.2% of his passes for 496 yards, 4 TDs and 0 INTs in 2 starts last season. He has a new offense to learn under HC Kyle Shanahan but figures to be under center for San Francisco within the next few weeks. Garoppolo projects as a significant upgrade for this offense the rest of the way. We wouldn't bother adding him to fantasy rosters now outside of leagues of 16+ teams or 2-QB leagues, though.
The 49ers lost DL Solomon Thomas to a knee injury and S Jimmie Ward to a forearm injury in Sunday's loss at Philadelphia. Neither player returned. Ward might be done for the year after suffering a fracture. We have yet to see specifics on Thomas' injury. He's likely headed for further evaluation Sunday night and/or Monday.
Update: Preliminary word is an MCL sprain for Thomas, according to Matt Maiocco of CSN Bay Area.
Buccaneers MLB Kwon Alexander is officially questionable for Sunday's game against the Bills. But the Tampa Bay Times reports that he's finally ready to return for the 1st time since leaving the opener with a hamstring injury. Alexander put in full practices all week and should be good to go for IDP lineups. We've moved him up the the Week 7 IDP rankings. Lavonte David (ankle) is also officially questionable for the 2nd straight week but should play after seeing full duty in Week 6. Alexander's return will push Kendell Beckwith back to the strong side and likely cut his playing time down from the 100% level he's seen since Alexander went down.
