Kyler Murray Fantasy Football News 2020

The Texans are set to trade WR DeAndre Hopkins to the Cardinals, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Wow. Hopkins is an elite receiver in the prime of his career with 3 years remaining on a manageable contract. It's a mind-boggling move by the Texans, leaving Will Fuller and Kenny Stills atop the depth chart for now. Those 2 are big winners here, while QB Deshaun Watson's fantasy stock takes a significant hit. QB Kyler Murray, meanwhile, gets the legitimate #1 WR that he was missing last year. He looks like a top-5 QB in 2020 fantasy drafts. Hopkins should easily remain a WR1 in a pass-leaning offense piloted by an accurate QB.

Update: Schefter reports that the Cardinals are receiving Hopkins and a late-round pick in exchange for RB David Johnson and a 2nd-rounder. Other picks are involved in the trade. Hopkins is expected to get a new contract from Arizona.

Update: The Houston Chronicle's John McClain reports it's Hopkins and a 4th-round pick to Arizona for Johnson, a 2020 2nd-rounder and a 2021 4th-rounder.

Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (hamstring) is active for today’s game against the Rams. He’s a risky fantasy play at less than 100%.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that the Cardinals are planning on having QB Kyler Murray (hamstring) against the Rams this afternoon. "Only way he doesn’t is if Murray’s hamstring bothers him during pregame warmups," Schefter adds. The rookie remains a shaky fantasy play at less than 100%.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Cardinals QB Kyler Murray is a "true game-time decision" for today's game against the Rams with his hamstring injury. The 4:25 p.m. ET kickoff adds risk to waiting for him, and Murray's situation will include elevated re-injury risk even if he plays. Avoid the rookie in your Week 17 lineups if you can.

Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury labeled QB Kyler Murray (hamstring) a game-time decision for Sunday's finale against the Rams. We're not sure why Arizona is even considering playing the rookie if he's not at 100%. Murray will be a shaky fantasy option if he ends up active. If not, it'll be Brett Hundley under center for the Cards.

Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (hamstring) will practice on Tuesday, HC Kliff Kingsbury said. The rookie's hamstring injury is obviously minor, and it looks like he has a good chance to play in Sunday's finale against the Rams.

The MRI on Cardinals QB Kyler Murray's hamstring revealed "nothing alarming ... Just a regular, minor hamstring pull," NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports. "It’ll be wait-and-see on his availability this week." We'll track Murray's practice participation, but it wouldn't make much sense for Arizona to run him out there at less than 100%. QB Brett Hundley will start vs. the Rams if Murray is out.

Cardinals QB Kyler Murray hurt his right hamstring in the 3rd quarter of Sunday's game. He's been replaced by QB Brett Hundley. We'll look for an update on the severity of Murray's injury.

Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (hamstring) is active for today’s game against the Rams. He was added to the injury report on Friday but put in a full practice. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported this morning that Murray “shouldn’t be limited” vs. Los Angeles.

Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (hamstring) is expected to play against the Rams today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "Just some tightness, he shouldn’t be limited," Rapoport adds. It sounds like Murray is safe to keep in Week 13 fantasy lineups.

Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (hamstring) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Rams. He was added to the injury report on Friday but put in a full practice. At this point, we've heard nothing to suggest that Murray is in any danger of missing this one. But any limitations on his rushing ability would be a blow to his fantasy value.

The Cardinals selected Oklahoma QB Kyler Murray with the 1st pick of the 2019 NFL Draft. Murray spent his first 3 college seasons — 1 at Texas A&M and 2 at Oklahoma — on the bench. He followed Baker Mayfield as the Sooners’ starter this past year and turned in a massive campaign. Murray completed 69% of his passes and averaged an NCAA record 11.6 yards per attempt on his way to 4,361 yards and 42 TDs. He ranked top 2 in this draft class in adjusted completion rate, adjusted completion rate vs. pressure and adjusted completion rate vs. the blitz, according to Pro Football Focus. But what makes Murray such an exciting fantasy prospect is his elite athleticism. (He was also the 9th overall pick of the 2018 MLB Draft.) He cranked out 1,001 yards and 12 scores on the ground last year, showcasing RB-like speed and quickness. His transition to the pros will be made easier in Cardinals HC Kliff Kingsbury’s college-style Air Raid offense. Kingsbury, of course, has no NFL coaching experience — so this marriage with Murray certainly has bust potential. Murray’s size is also a concern: at 5’10, he’ll be the league’s shortest QB. We’ll see what happens with QB Josh Rosen, but Murray is the heavy favorite to be under center for the Cardinals in the season opener against Detroit.
