Matt Moore Fantasy Football News 2019

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) is inactive for today’s game against the Vikings. It sounds like he has a realistic chance to play next week. QB Matt Moore gets another start today.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) is not expected to play against the Vikings today, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Although Mahomes is seemingly recovering quicker than expected, he was always a long shot for this one. A Week 10 return looks doable. We'll continue to keep a close eye on his progress this coming week. QB Matt Moore gets another start vs. Minnesota today.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Vikings. It's an upgrade over last week, when Mahomes was ruled out on Friday. He reportedly took 2nd-team reps in practice all week, though, so we're still expecting QB Matt Moore to get the start vs. Minnesota. A Week 10 return looks realistic for Mahomes.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) remained limited in Wednesday's practice, like he was all last week. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported on Sunday that Mahomes has an "outside chance" to return for this weekend's game against the Vikings, but a Week 10 return is more likely. We'll continue to monitor his progress.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) is out for Sunday night's game against the Packers. He got on the practice field this week but never had a shot to play this weekend. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport believes that Mahomes has a chance to return for Week 10. It'll be Matt Moore under center for Kansas City on Sunday. He's in play in 2-QB leagues.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) will practice on Wednesday, HC Andy Reid said. QB Matt Moore will get the "majority" of the reps, Reid added. Although Mahomes hasn't officially been ruled out, it'll be Moore under center on Sunday night vs. the Packers. But it's surprising and encouraging that Mahomes is already back on the practice field. Perhaps he's back sooner than 3 weeks from now.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (knee) could return for the Week 11 game against the Chargers in Mexico City. Schefter adds, though, that the team will "exercise extreme caution" with its star QB. Kansas City has a Week 12 bye, so we still won't be surprised if Mahomes is held out until Week 13. QB Matt Moore will start at least the next 3 games vs. the Packers, Vikings and Titans.

The MRI on Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes' injured knee revealed no "significant additional damage" beyond the dislocated knee cap, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Mahomes will get a 2nd opinion, but the Chiefs' current "plan" is to get their QB back this season "after a brief absence," Rapoport adds. This is just about the best news we could have gotten. We're still expecting Mahomes to miss at least 3 weeks -- and the Chiefs could opt to hold him out through their Week 12 bye. But Mahomes should stay stashed on fantasy rosters. QB Matt Moore is next up on Kansas City's depth chart.

Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes injured his right knee on a QB sneak in the 2nd quarter of Sunday's game against the Broncos. Trainers appeared to pop the knee back into place on the field. Mahomes was able to walk off the field with trainers and headed back to the locker room. We'll update his status when we learn more. QB Matt Moore is in the game for Kansas City.

Update: Mahomes has been ruled out for the game.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill has decided to have surgery to repair his left ACL. He partially tore that ligament last December but passed on surgery in the offseason. Then he re-injured the knee in practice earlier this month. Miami, of course, planned for this outcome by signing QB Jay Cutler. The Dolphins will have a decision to make next offseason, with much smaller dead-cap figures on Tannehill's contract in 2018 and 2019 should they decide to cut him -- vs. cap hits of $19.8 million and up over the final 3 years.

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (knee) returned to a limited practice on Friday, per the Miami Herald's Barry Jackson. Tannehill won't play against the Steelers this weekend, but it looks like he'd have a shot to be under center for the Divisional Round if Miami advances.

Dolphins HC Adam Gase confirmed Wednesday that QB Matt Moore is likely to start Sunday's game vs. the Steelers. "Unless something drastically changes" with QB Ryan Tannehill's recovery, Gase added. Tannehill has resumed throwing but is still in an "early stage" of his rehab, Gase said. Perhaps he has a shot to return if the Fins advance, but it'll be Moore in Pittsburgh this weekend. The 32-year-old has fared fine so far, completing 63.2% of his passes with an 8-to-3 TD:INT ratio.

There's "reason for optimism" that Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (knee) could return for the playoffs, according to the Miami Herald's Adam Beasley. Tannehill has shed his cast and was walking without crutches on Saturday. Miami needs either a Broncos loss to the Chiefs on Sunday night or a win over the Patriots in Week 17 to clinch a postseason berth. QB Matt Moore will start vs. New England.

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (knee) is out for Saturday night’s game against the Jets. QB Matt Moore will make his 1st start since 2011. He’s a bottom-barrel QB2, despite the plus matchup.

Dolphins HC Joe Philbin refused to commit to QB Ryan Tannehill as his Week 4 starter on Monday.  "We'll decide our game plan before we leave to play Oakland," Philbin replied when asked if Tannehill would start.  The coaching staff is reportedly meeting this afternoon to discuss the QB situation.  We'd be surprised if they went with QB Matt Moore, but Tannehill could certainly get yanked if he doesn't get off to a good start against the Raiders in London.  Through 3 games, he's completing just 56.5% of his passes and averaging 5.0 yards per attempt.  Both marks would be career lows.

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill left in the 4th quarter of Sunday's game with a leg injury.  He went down awkwardly on Buffalo's 6th sack of the day.  QB Matt Moore has entered for Miami.

Update: Tannehill re-entered on Miami's next possession.

QB Matt Moore has agreed to a new deal with the Dolphins.  Details of the contract are not yet available.  It's surprising news because Moore was widely considered the top QB set to hit free agency -- and a potential starter elsewhere.  In Miami, he'll be the clear backup behind Ryan Tannehill.  Moore's decision further weakens the QB free-agent market.  Names like Chase Daniel, David Garrard and Derek Anderson are now at the top of the list.  For our take on those guys, check out our QB Free Agency Preview.

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (knee) is active and starting against the Colts today.  Miami won't be afraid to pull him for QB Matt Moore if he struggles early on though.  It's a situation to avoid in fantasy.

NFL Network's Albert Breer reports that Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill is expected to start today's game against the Colts.  Breer adds that the rookie will be "monitored in pregame."  We'll have Tannehill's official status around noon ET.  Even if he starts, though, Miami will reportedly have QB Matt Moore on standby if Tannehill struggles early on.  It's a situation to avoid in fantasy.

Dolphins QB Ryan Tannehill (knee, quad) was limited in practice all week. He's listed as questionable and will be a game-time decision for Sunday's tilt with the Colts. We wouldn't be surprised if the team played it safe and held the 1st-round pick out. QB Matt Moore would start for the Fins in that case. Neither guy should be in fantasy lineups.
