The Chargers have promoted K Travis Coons from their practice squad. He'll kick against the Browns tomorrow in place of K Nick Novak, who is struggling with a back injury. Coons is a viable spot starter with the Chargers sporting the week's highest implied total.
Update: The Chargers have placed Novak on IR.
Chargers K Nick Novak (back) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Browns. He was limited on Wednesday and Friday and a full-go on Thursday. It looks like Novak will kick on Sunday, but you should find a safer option for your fantasy squad.
Chargers K Nick Novak left Thursday’s game at Dallas with a back injury. He’s questionable to return
Update: Novak returned in the 2nd quarter.
Update: Novak missed an XP early in the 3rd quarter and was replaced by P Drew Kaser after the Chargers' next TD. The back is obviously an issue. Fantasy owners should be lining up a replacement for Week 13.
The Texans have released K Nick Novak. So it's now Ka'imi Fairbairn atop the depth chart. The UCLA product has yet to attempt a regular-season kick and went 3-of-4 this preseason. You can do better in your fantasy draft.
The Texans have released K Randy Bullock and replaced him with K Nick Novak. Bullock missed a 43-yard FG and an XP this past week. Novak was cut by the Chargers this summer but drilled 84+% of his FGs in each of the last 3 seasons. It's an upgrade for Houston, but you should be able to do better than Novak for your fantasy squad.
The Chargers have released K Nick Novak, per insider Michael Gehlken. That leaves Josh Lambo as San Diego's starting K. The former soccer player and undrafted rookie connected of 84% of his FGs at Texas A&M over the past 2 seasons and went 4-for-4 this preseason. We'd avoid Lambo in fantasy lineups early on, but he could emerge as a viable matchup option.
The Chargers signed K Nick Novak to a 4-year deal. Taking over for an injured Nate Kaeding in Week 4, Novak nailed 18 of 20 FG attempts over the final 13 games. A lack of opportunities left him 27th in fantasy points though. Novak won't be a recommended fantasy starter in 2013.
The Chargers have signed K Nick Novak. He'll replace K Nate Kaeding, who is done for the year with a torn ACL. Novak last appeared in the NFL in 2008 with Kansas City, where he connected on just 6 of 10 FG attempts. His career FG conversion rate stands at an ugly 63%. He'll get plenty of scoring chances thanks to San Diego's high-scoring offense, but the poor accuracy makes him a risky fantasy bet. Ex-Kaeding owners are better off going with a guy like Jason Hanson or Nick Folk.
