The Raiders spent their 3rd pick of the NFL Draft's 1st round on S Johnathan Abram. The DB tallied 99 tackles (53 solo), 9 tackles for loss, 3 sacks and 2 INTs in his final season at Mississippi State. Abram brings a versatile skill set to an Oakland secondary in need of help. Abram's ability plus the opportunity gives him a nice fantasy outlook -- both immediately and long term.
The Raiders delivered the 1st surprise of the 2019 NFL Draft by taking Clemson DE Clelin Ferrell with the 4th overall pick. Ferrell enjoyed a highly productive college career, racking up 12.5, 18.0 and 20.0 tackles for loss over the past 3 years. That included 6.0, 9.5 and 11.5 sacks. Ferrell skipped the 40-yard dash at the Scouting Combine and then didn't work out at Clemson's pro day because of a toe injury. His 7.26-second 3-cone drill at the combine was just 42nd percentile for his position. A weak Oakland defense presents opportunity for Ferrell to start right away.
The Raiders have reached a 4-year deal with S Lamarcus Joyner, per multiple reports. He should take over the free safety spot for Oakland, which spent 2018 rotating players there. The Rams already added Eric Weddle for Joyner's old post.
The Raiders have waived DE Bruce Irvin, according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic. The nearly $4 million left on Irvin's contract might keep him from getting claimed, though interested teams with cap space could foot that bill now that they wouldn't have to surrender any draft capital in trade. Either way, expect the 31-year-old pass-rusher to get another shot somewhere this season. Whether he'll have a shot at IDP relevance will depend on the landing spot.
Raiders CB Daryl Worley is active for tonight's game against the 49ers. He entered the day questionable with a shoulder issue that limited his practice time this week but is ready to go for Week 9 IDP lineups. The Niners starting Nick Mullens can only add turnover upside to Worley.
Raiders CB Daryl Worley is questionable for Thursday night's game against the 49ers with a shoulder injury. That's a new ailment after an ankle tweak rendered him questionable for Week 8. Worley played through that for normal usage. Oakland listed him as a limited participant all this week. We'll check his status when the inactives arrive tonight.
Raiders CB Daryl Worley (ankle) is active for today's game against the Colts. He suffered the injury in Friday's practice, but it reported to be minor. Worley seems good to go for Week 8 IDP lineups -- in an upside spot.
Raiders CB Daryl Worley suffered an ankle injury in Friday’s practice and is questionable for Sunday’s game against the Colts. According to NBC Sports’ Scott Bair, though, HC Jon Gruden doesn’t believe the injury to be serious. We’ll check on Worley’s status Sunday afternoon
The Raiders have released LB Derrick Johnson. The veteran's playing time had dwindled to just about a quarter of the defensive snaps over the past 3 games, so his departure shouldn't mean much for the Oakland defense. It could, however, mean a further playing-time boost for Marquel Lee, the 2nd-year LB who had supplanted Johnson as the middle starter. Though their snap counts didn't correlate directly over the past 4 games, they came pretty close. Lee will be interesting to watch for IDP purposes. He's only an add in deep/dynasty formats right now.
The Raiders on Friday placed DE Khalil Mack on the reserve/did not report list. Mack continues to hold out in search of a new contract after skipping the team's mandatory minicamp. He's on the option year of his rookie contract and currently headed toward unrestricted free agency in the spring. We'll see how this situation plays out.
The Raiders traded up 2 spots in Round 3 to draft LSU EDGE player Arden Key. The versatile pass rusher racked up 11 sacks as a 2016 sophomore but then took a leave of absence from school and dealt with a shoulder injury. Key also weight just 238 pounds in the pre-draft season. He'll need work before seeing regular playing time in the NFL and will make for a high-risk rookie pick in dynasty fantasy football drafts.
Raiders OLB Bruce Irvin (concussion) and DL Denico Autry (hand) are active for tonight's game against the Eagles. Neither is much of an IDP option. As expected, Oakland will miss CB David Amerson (foot) once again. He entered the day doubtful.
Raiders OLB Bruce Irvin (concussion) is questionable for Monday night's game against the Eagles. He returned to practice Friday but has yet to complete the league protocol. DL Denico Autry (hand) is also questionable. The Raiders have ruled DE Mario Edwards (ankle) out for the game and will likely continue to miss CB David Amerson (foot), who is doubtful.
The Raiders have ruled DE Mario Edwards (ankle) out for Sunday night's game against the Cowboys. CB David Amerson (foot) is also doubtful for the game. He has missed the past 6 contests with the injury.
Raiders CB David Amerson (foot) is inactive for today's game against the Chiefs. It'll be the 6th straight missed game for Amerson, who reached the weekend questionable. DL Denico Autry (hand) is active after also being questionable. OLB Cory James (knee) is out after arriving as doubtful.
The Raiders will have S Karl Joseph (groin) for tonight's game against the Dolphins. He's active after missing last week's game at Buffalo. CB David Amerson, however, will miss a 2nd straight game with a foot injury.
The Raiders have ruled CB David Amerson (foot) out for Sunday night's game against the Dolphins. S Karl Joseph (groin) is questionable after missing last week's game at Buffalo. Joseph put in limited workouts all week. We'll see about his availability Sunday.
Raiders LB Cory James (knee) and CB David Amerson (shoulder) are active for today's game against the Chargers. Each is fine to use if he was in your Week 6 IDP plans.
Raiders LB Cory James (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers. James put in limited practices Thursday and Friday after sitting out Wednesday. We'll see about his status Sunday. CB David Amerson (shoulder) is questionable as well after limited workouts each day.
