Von Miller Fantasy Football News 2019

Broncos OLB Von Miller (knee) is active for today's game against the Texans. It's an upside sack matchup for the pass rusher, though there's also still risk to Miller's injury situation. Fellow OLB Malik Reed (ankle) is inactive for the game.

Broncos OLB Von Miller is "trending in the right direction" but still no lock to return for today's game against the Texans, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. ESPN's Adam Schefter, meanwhile, reports that Denver expects Miller to play. Miller's knee injury cost him last week's game, the 1st he had missed since 2013. We'll update his status later this morning, when the inactives come out. But even an active Miller looks like a risky IDP bet this week.

Broncos OLB Von Miller (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans. Miller put in limited practices all week. We'll check his status Sunday. Fellow OLB starter Malik Reed (ankle) is also questionable. He started the week not practicing but put in limited workouts Thursday and Friday.

Broncos OLB Von Miller (knee) is inactive for today's game against the Chargers. The left knee injury snaps a 95-game active streak for Miller. ILB Alexander Johnson (knee) is active and in play for IDP usage. DL Shelby Harris (ankle) is also active but a low-level fantasy option.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Broncos OLB Von Miller is "considered 50/50" to play through his knee injury against the Chargers today, "though it's trending in the right direction." That obviously points to Miller likely playing, but he'll be a low-floor option for IDP lineups.

Broncos ILB Alexander Johnson (knee) and OLB Von Miller (knee) are questionable for Sunday's game against the Chargers. Both players missed the first 2 days of practice before putting in a limited Friday. We'll update the status for both on Sunday afternoon. The late start makes it difficult to wait for either player.

Broncos OLB Von Miller (ankle) and ILB Brandon Marshall (knee) are active for today's game against the Chiefs.

Broncos OLB Von Miller (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Chiefs. HC Vance Joseph said Miller will be in the lineup, though, according to Pro Football Talk. If you're planning to use Miller, then he should be good to go. LB Brandon Marshall (knee) is also questionable. He has become a weak IDP contributor.

To the surprise of probably no one, Broncos OLB Von Miller landed the largest-ever contract for a defensive player before Friday's deadline for franchise-tagged players. The 6-year deal includes $70 million in guarantees and just might lock in the 27-year-old as a Bronco for the life of his NFL career. It removes concern on Miller's 2016 status for IDP owners and keeps the best player in a Denver defense that belongs among the top 5 in fantasy football drafts.

The NFL's deadline for franchised players to sign a long-term contract -- or wait until after the season to resume negotiations -- looms this Friday. That day might be more important for Broncos OLB Von Miller than other tagged players. “No, I’m not gonna play on the franchise tag. It just doesn’t make sense in any way,” Miller told ESPN on Monday. “I’ve never really played for money. It’s bigger than that for me. It’s a league-wide problem that I feel like I’m in a situation to help out with.” That sounds fairly serious -- more serious than the usual player simply (and understandably) trying to maximize his earning potential during a short career. It should worry IDP owners about Miller's 2016 outlook if he doesn't agree to a deal by Friday. The Broncos reportedly increased the guaranteed money recently in a contract offer worth more than $100 million total, so we'll see what happens this week.

The Broncos on Tuesday placed the exclusive franchise tag on OLB Von Miller. That means he can't even negotiate with other teams in free agency. It also makes clear what all have expected: that the Broncos intend to keep Miller around long term.

Broncos OLB Von Miller came away from Week 2 with a sore groin muscle that found him on the sideline late in the game.  According to The Denver Post, though, it doesn't seem like a significant issue.  Miller actually played through the issue for a while Sunday afternoon before coming out.  We'll keep an eye on his status heading into Week 3, but don't panic if your IDP lineup features Denver's star pass rusher.

Dr. James Andrews has cleared Broncos LB Von Miller to take the field for the start of camp, according to The Denver Post.  GM John Elway said Miller won't take part in contact drills until the week of the 3rd preseason game in late August.  But the news is encouraging for a star player who tore his right ACL in the 2nd-to-last regular-season game.  Broncos CB Chris Harris, on the other hand, will start camp on the PUP thanks to his Jan. 12 ACL tear.  Both are key to the Denver D, though Miller's return should mean more to the unit's fantasy value.

The Broncos placed OLB Von Miller on IR Tuesday for the right ACL tear he suffered in Sunday's win at Houston.  The team promoted LB Brandon Marshall from the practice squad to fill his roster spot.  We'll see whether Miller can get back to full strength in time for the start of next season.  Still just 24 until March, Miller shouldn't see much change in dynasty-league value.  Even if the knee slows him early in 2014, there'll be plenty of time for top-notch pass-rushing production thereafter.  Perhaps the rehab work this offseason can also help him avoid off-field issues following his 6-game suspension early this year.
The Denver Post reports that the Broncos fear a torn ACL for OLB Von Miller.  We'll see whether Monday testing confirms those fears.  Nate Irving replaced Miller against the Texans.
Broncos OLB Von Miller left Sunday's game at Houston with a knee injury, and the team has ruled him out for the rest of the game.  That's a big blow for fantasy owners who included him in their IDP lineups.  Miller left the field under his own power, so we're not expecting any long-term issue.  We'll see about the star pass-rusher's Week 17 availability.

Broncos LB Von Miller added 16 pounds of muscle during his 6-game suspension, according to FOX's Jay Glazer.  Wow.  That puts the former 250-pound OLB and pass-rusher around 270.  We'll be interested to see whether the added upper-body bulk inhibits his pass-rushing.  Miller's a quick-twitch speed guy.  As long as he maintains his previous level of flexibility, though, the extra muscle could help in 1-on-1 combat with blockers.
