Ryan Griffin Fantasy Football News 2019

Jets TE Chris Herndon will be out an "extended amount of time" with a fractured rib suffered in yesterday's loss to the Giants, HC Adam Gase said. Herndon, of course, was making his 2019 debut in Week 10 after missing time due to suspension and a hamstring injury. This will go down as a lost season for him. Ryan Griffin will step back in as New York's lead TE.

Jets TE Chris Herndon (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Monday night's game against the Patriots. We'll see if he can make his 2019 debut in Week 8. Ryan Griffin will again serve as New York's lead TE on Monday but isn't a fantasy option in this matchup.

The Jets have signed TE Ryan Griffin. The 29-year-old was released by the Texans in April following an April arrest on vandalism and public intoxication charges. Those charges were dismissed, so Griffin should avoid a suspension. He's probably the current favorite to serve as New York's primary pass-catching TE during Chris Herndon's 4-game suspension. But Griffin isn't worth spending a pick on in fantasy drafts.

The Texans selected San Diego State TE Kahale Warring in the 3rd round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Warring didn’t play a lick of football until his senior year of high school in 2014. He totaled just 20 catches across his first 3 college seasons before leading a run-heavy Aztecs team with 31 catches last year. The 6'5, 252-pounder registered a strong 79th percentile SPARQ score at the Combine and is also 1 of the best blocking TEs in this class. Warring will find opportunity in Houston, where the depth chart consists of Ryan Griffin, Jordan Thomas and Jordan Akins.

Texans TE Ryan Griffin (illness) is set to return for Sunday’s game against the Broncos. Denver ranks 24th in fantasy points allowed to TEs, but Griffin remains a last-gasp fantasy play.

Texans TE Ryan Griffin (illness) is out for Thursday night's game against the Dolphins. We still don't have any details on the issue that's cost him 2 games now. Jordan Akins and Jordan Thomas will again handle TE duties for Houston, but neither is a fantasy option.

Texans TE Ryan Griffin has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Jaguars with an illness. We'll look for more details on what's ailing him. Griffin's absence leaves Houston with rookie TEs Jordan Thomas and Jordan Akins. Neither is a fantasy option.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that Texans WR Will Fuller (hamstring) is "unlikely" to play against the Patriots today. "He wants to test it pregame first before making final decision," Schefter adds. We'll find out Fuller's official status by noon ET, but he's at risk of being limited and/or aggravating that hamstring injury if he plays. Fuller should be on fantasy benches for Week 1. His absence leaves Bruce Ellington as Houston's #2 WR. TE Ryan Griffin could also see a few extra looks, but WR DeAndre Hopkins will be the target hog.

The Texans have released TE Stephen Anderson. The undersized pass-catching TE has struggled with drops over his first 2 NFL seasons. Ryan Griffin will open the year as Houston's lead TE, with rookie Jordan Akins backing him up.

The Texans selected Central Florida TE Jordan Akins in the 3rd round of the 2018 NFL Draft. He's undersized at 6'3, 249 pounds and is a pure pass-catching TE. Akins spent 4 years trying to make it in minor league baseball before going back to the gridiron. He boosted his yardage each year at UCF, topping out with 515 yards and 4 TDs on 32 grabs this past year. He finds opportunity in Houston with only Ryan Griffin and Stephen Anderson to beat out. Akins is worth a late-round flier in dynasty rookie drafts.

The Texans have placed TE Ryan Griffin (concussion) on IR. His roster spot will be taken by TE C.J. Fiedorowicz, who was activated from IR with his own concussion. Fiedorowicz will serve as Houston's lead pass-catching TE the rest of the way but is a low-upside fantasy option with Tom Savage under center.

Texans TE Ryan Griffin sustained a concussion in the 1st half of Sunday's game against the Colts and is done for the day. We'll track his progress through the protocol this week, but Griffin isn't much of a fantasy option with Tom Savage under center.

Texans TE Ryan Griffin (concussion) put in a full week of practice and will play against the Patriots on Sunday. He’ll operate as Houston’s lead TE with C.J. Fiedorowicz out, giving Griffin some deep sleeper appeal. He posted an 8-85 line in the 1 game Fiedorowicz missed last year.

The Texans have placed TE C.J. Fiedorowicz on IR after he suffered his 3rd concussion in the past 9 months in Sunday's opener. Fiedorowicz could be a candidate to return in 8+ weeks but isn't worth hanging on to in fantasy leagues. TEs Ryan Griffin and Stephen Anderson are also likely to miss Thursday night's game against the Bengals with concussions. It all just means more targets for WR DeAndre Hopkins.

Texans TE Ryan Griffin sustained a concussion in Sunday's game against the Jaguars. He's done for the day. Griffin's absence could mean an extra target for 2 for TE C.J. Fiedorowicz.

Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) is out for Sunday’s game against the Jaguars. Ryan Griffin will step in as Houston’s starter and is an intriguing TE2.

Texans TE C.J. Fiedorowicz (concussion) missed practice again on Thursday. He's looking unlikely to get cleared in time for this weekend's game against the Jaguars. That'd leave Ryan Griffin as the top TE in what's become a TE-centric passing game.

Texans TE Garrett Graham (back) is not expected to play against the Redskins today, according to NFL Network's Albert Breer.  Graham was listed as questionable but didn't practice at all this week, so he shouldn't be considered a lock to be ready for Week 2.  Rookie TE C.J. Fiedorowicz is expected to start in Graham's place today, with TE Ryan Griffin also seeing more action.  Neither guy is a recommended fantasy play.
