Adam Thielen Fantasy Football News 2020

The Falcons have been cleared to re-open their facility after no positive COVID results from Thursday's round of testing, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. The Atlanta-Minnesota game remains on for Sunday as of now. We'll let you know if that changes.

The Falcons are shutting down their facility after getting back 4 positive COVID tests on Thursday morning, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Atlanta's game against the Vikings this weekend is now in question. Stay tuned.

Update: A source tells Schefter that the Falcons had just 1 positive test, and it wasn't a player. That has us a bit more optimistic that this game will happen this week.

The Athletic's Arif Hasan notes that Vikings WR Adam Thielen is showing no ill-effects from last year's hamstring injury. "He’s been able to separate instantly at the release and generates even more throughout the route," Hasan writes. "As good as some of the corners in camp have been, they’ve had a difficult time keeping up with him — a good sign that his hamstring injury hasn’t kept him from performing at a top-notch level." Considering Thielen returned from that hammy injury for a strong 2 playoff outings last year, it was never really a concern heading into 2020. He remains a strong value in the 4th round of fantasy drafts.

The Vikings selected LSU WR Justin Jefferson with the 22nd overall pick of the 2020 NFL Draft — the pick they acquired from the Bills for WR Stefon Diggs. No WR in this class had a more productive 2019. Jefferson’s 111 catches tied for most in the country, he ranked 3rd with 1,540 receiving yards and finished 2nd with 18 TDs. That, of course, came on an LSU offense that led the nation in passing yards and TDs. So Jefferson’s market shares — 26% of the receptions, 26% of the receiving yards and 30% of the TDs — are less impressive. We came away a bit underwhelmed by his tape. Jefferson did a bunch of damage vs. zone coverages but can struggle to separate from man. On the plus side, he’s excellent in tight quarters, leading all draft-eligible WRs with a 92.4% contested-catch rate in 2019, per Pro Football Focus. Jefferson has extensive experience at all WR spots, playing 81% of his snaps on the outside in 2018 and 78% in the slot last year. And he impressed at the Combine, running a 4.43-second 40-yard dash and earning an 82nd percentile SPARQ score at 6’1, 202 pounds. While we wonder how high Jefferson’s fantasy ceiling extends, he looks like 1 of the higher-floor WRs in this class. And he should immediately slide in as Minnesota’s #2 WR, making him a good bet for 2020 fantasy value.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (ankle) is active for today's Divisional Round game against the 49ers. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said on Friday that the team wasn't sure how the stitches in Thielen's ankle will hold up. He obviously comes with elevated risk in fantasy lineups.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (ankle) "should play" against the 49ers on Saturday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. "What we don't know is how his cut, how these stitches he had in his foot are gonna end up holding up during the game," Rapoport adds.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the 49ers. He suffered a cut on his ankle that required stitches on Wednesday and then didn't practice on Thursday. There's been optimism about his availability for this playoff game, but Thielen will obviously come with elevated risk in fantasy lineups if active. We'll get his official status around 3 pm ET on Saturday.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen needed stitches for a "bad cut" on his ankle suffered during Wednesday's practice, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports. "The initial prognosis was encouraging for his chances of playing Saturday against the 49ers, but they’re still gathering information and will proceed with caution," Pelissero adds. We'll keep a close eye on this.

ESPN's Courtney Cronin reports that the Vikings are "leaning heavily" toward resting the "bulk" of their starters in Sunday's game against the Bears. Minnesota is locked into the NFC's #6 seed. Cronin mentions QB Kirk Cousins as 1 starter who isn't expected to play. RB Dalvin Cook (shoulder) is almost certain to be inactive. And we'd bank on WRs Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen getting the day off, too. QB Sean Mannion will get the start for the Vikings, making this an offense to try to avoid in Week 17 fantasy lineups. The Bears DST is a strong play.

Vikings QB Kirk Cousins admitted on Thursday that he's not sure how much or even if he'll play against the Bears this weekend. Minnesota is locked in as the NFC's #6 seed after Monday night's loss to the Packers. Cousins and his WRs are shaky Week 17 fantasy plays that we'd try to avoid. We're not expecting RBs Dalvin Cook (shoulder) and Alexander Mattison (ankle) to play vs. Chicago.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) practiced all week and isn't listed on the final injury report. He'll return for Sunday's game against the Chargers. Thielen has had a couple of setbacks with this hamstring, but Minnesota seemed to be very cautious bringing him back this time. We're expecting Thielen to play his usual role this weekend.

ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) is expected back for Sunday's game against the Chargers, "barring a setback in practice this week." Of course, Thielen has had a couple of setbacks with this hammy already, so don't consider him a lock for Week 15 just yet. We'll see how he fares in practice over the next few days.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) is inactive for today’s game against the Lions. He’s reportedly expected back next week. Olabisi Johnson will again serve as Minnesota’s #2 WR today but isn’t much of a fantasy option. TE Kyle Rudolph is the best bet for targets behind WR Stefon Diggs.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) won't play against the Lions today. Thielen is working to get scar tissue out of that injured hamstring, per Rapoport, but Minnesota is "optimistic" that he'll be back next week. WR Stefon Diggs and TE Kyle Rudolph are the 2 best fantasy bets in the Vikings passing game today.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Sunday’s game against the Lions. He won’t play in that one and should be considered iffy for Week 15 after missing practice all week. Thielen’s absence keeps TE Kyle Rudolph in play as a fantasy starter.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) didn't participate in the team's walkthrough practice on Wednesday. He seemed set to return last week before suffering his 2nd setback with this injury. Fantasy owners should plan on being without Thielen again for Week 14 at this point. We'll see if he's able to practice tomorrow.

Vikings WR Adam Thielen (hamstring) has been downgraded to out for Monday night's game against the Seahawks. We'll see if he can make it back for Week 14. Thielen's absence means TEs Kyle Rudolph and Irv Smith should continue to play big roles in Minnesota's passing game.
