Colts S Malik Hooker (foot) and CB Rock Ya-Sin (ankle) are active for today's game against the Buccaneers. Neither is a high-level IDP, but there's upside to facing Tampa Bay QB Jameis Winston.
Colts DE Justin Houston (calf) and S Malik Hooker (knee) are active for today's game against the Steelers. Each guy turned up questionable but is available for normal usage. Houston looks less attractive for IDP lineups than usual with the calf issue and strong Pittsburgh pass protection.
Colts DE Justin Houston is questionable for Sunday's game at Pittsburgh. He suffered a calf injury in Thursday's practice that then kept him out Friday. We'll need to watch Houston's status Sunday morning. S Malik Hooker is also questionable. He returned last week after missing 3 games with a knee injury. Hooker opened this practice week on the field but then was limited Thursday and sat out Friday, again with a knee issue. He hasn't been much of an IDP option even when healthy, at least. His previous replacement, Khari Willis, looks ready to go if Hooker sits.
Colts S Malik Hooker is inactive for today’s game against the Chiefs. That leaves Indy without its deep cover man against a pass offense plenty capable of exploiting the deficiency. Potential replacement Mike Mitchell is also out. DT Denico Autry is active after entering the day questionable
Colts S Malik Hooker (foot) and DT Denico Autry (shoulder) are questionable for today's game against the Chiefs. Hooker's absence, in particular, would be tough on an Indy secondary that will already be stressed by the league's top offense.
The Colts expect to get FS Malik Hooker on the game field Saturday for the 1st time since he suffered an ACL tear last October. According to the team website, HC Frank Reich said Hooker had a "good solid week last week" in practice. A healthy Hooker is likely the FS starter. Clayton Geathers filled in against the Ravens on Monday. In the 1st preseason game -- with Geathers also out -- it was T.J. Moore. Matthias Farley has been manning the SS spot. Hooker, a 1st-round pick in 2017, nabbed 7 INTs in his final season at Ohio State and would help the defense's turnover potential.
Colts S Malik Hooker suffered a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee in Sunday's loss to the Jaguars, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. That will end the 1st-round pick's rookie season. We'll see if it also threatens the start of his 2nd year. Hooker grabbed 3 INTs among his 5 games as a starter.
The Colts will be placing S Clayton Geathers (neck) on the PUP list to open the regular season, ESPN reports. That will cost the 3rd-year safety at least the 1st 6 games. Geathers finished 2016 on IR because of a neck injury that eventually required surgery in March. He has yet to return to the field. A decision this early to put him on the PUP casts some doubt on whether Geathers will be available at all in 2017. And the fact that it's a neck issue looks worrisome for his outlook beyond the coming season. Needless to say, we've knocked him way down the 2017 IDP rankings. And he has tumbled down our dynasty IDP rankings as well. Converted CB Darius Butler is the early favorite to start with rookie S Malik Hooker. We'll see whether 2016 rookie T.J. Green enters the mix.
The Colts picked Ohio State S Malik Hooker in the 1st round of the NFL Draft. Hooker should claim a starting job right away, with Mike Adams having left for Carolina. We'd bet on him starting next to Clayton Geathers soon, with Geathers the much better IDP option.
