Chiefs LB Ben Niemann left in the 1st half of Sunday's win over the Falcons with a hamstring injury. With Anthony Hitchens (COVID list) and Damien Wilson (knee) already inactive, that left Darius Harris and Willie Gay Jr. to lead the LB corps in playing time. Harris edged Gay by 5 snaps, but Gay posted a team-high 9 tackles (7 solo). Kansas City clinched the AFC's top playoff seed with the win, so a meaningless Week 17 would seem like the perfect spot to give the 2nd-round rookie another start and a long look -- especially with other LBs nursing injuries. We'll see how this week unfolds, though.
Chiefs DE Frank Clark (illness) is active for today's game against the Falcons. He should be ready to use as you planned in IDP lineups.
Chiefs DE Frank Clark (illness) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Falcons. He missed practice Thursday but returned for a full Friday workout, so Clark seems to be trending toward playing.
Chiefs S Tyrann Mathieu is expected to play today against the Dolphins, despite being questionable with a hip issue, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Mathieu sits low in our Week 14 DB rankings.
Chiefs DE Frank Clark (knee) is active for today's game against the Panthers. The knee issue and lagging recent production make Clark a lower-level IDP play, though.
Chiefs DE Frank Clark (knee) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Panthers. Clark has seen his playing time dip the past 2 weeks vs. previous games. He sits well down our DL rankings this week, though, which makes Clark OK to use (at that level) if he's active.
Chiefs DT Chris Jones was away from the team Thursday because of close contact with a staff member who tested positive for COVID-19. But NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Jones has been cleared and is set to practice Friday. So the star DT should be good to go for Week 9 IDP lineups.
The Chiefs have activated CB Bashaud Breeland off the suspended list. He missed the season's 1st 4 games. We'll see whether Breeland jumps back into a full-time role, but the broken collarbone for rookie CB L'Jarius Sneed leaves room for him to do so when ready.
The NFL is postponing Sunday's Patriots-Chiefs game, though they still expect to play it either Monday or Tuesday. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that "Tuesday is more likely." That would keep players from those teams -- minus Cam Newton -- available for Week 4 fantasy football lineups, though all would obviously be off the main DFS slate. We'll continue watching for further updates. A postponement to Tuesday was also the initial plan for Steelers-Titans before that game ultimately got moved to Week 7. So far, at least, this situation doesn't include multiple positive tests amid either team.
The Chiefs have placed rookie CB L'Jarius Sneed on IR after he suffered a broken collarbone in Monday night's win over the Ravens. HC Andy Reid didn't share an expected timeline for Sneed's recovery. The history of collarbone fractures gives him a chance to return late in the season. But you should feel safe to drop Sneed outside of dynasty leagues. He jumped onto the IDP radar with INTs in each of the 1st 2 weeks and should be in K.C.'s starting mix whenever he does return. CB Charvarius Ward checked in for Sneed after the rookie left Monday night. Look for Ward -- who is coming off surgery for a broken thumb -- to replace Sneed in the starting lineup going forward. The Chiefs will also get CB Bashaud Breeland back from suspension after Week 4.
The Chiefs have ruled out CB Charvarius Ward (thumb) for Sunday's game against the Chargers. They'll also be without DE Alex Okafor (hamstring).
Chiefs CB Charvarius Ward suffered a hand fracture in the 2nd half of Thursday night's win over the Texans. ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that they're still figuring out how much time Ward might miss. The Chiefs were already without CB Bashaud Breeland for the 1st 4 games because of suspension. Rookie L'Jarius Sneed led K.C. corners in playing time in the opener, seeing 93% of the defensive snaps. Elsewhere, DE Alex Okafor left early with what HC Andy Reid called a "mild" hamstring strain.
The Chiefs grabbed LB Willie Gay Jr. with the penultimate pick in Round 2 of the NFL Draft. Gay flashed impressive ability despite limited on-field experience at Mississippi State. He lost 8 games last season to an academic-fraud suspension and also punched a teammate, who then missed the Music City Bowl. Gay lands in a nice situation for immediate opportunity, though. Kansas City finished last season with no LB consistently playing full time. We'll see if he's ready to seize that opportunity in 2020. Gay certainly carries long-term intrigue for dynasty leagues.
The Chiefs have applied the franchise tag to DT Chris Jones. It was the expected move, to keep 1 of the team's top defensive players from hitting free agency. When healthy, Jones is a top-20 fantasy D-linemen and 1 of the top fantasy DTs available. He'll turn just 26 in July.
Chiefs DT Chris Jones (calf) is active for today’s game against the Titans. That’s a big boost to K.C.’s run defense and pass rush
