NFL Network's Ian Rapoport updated his earlier reports on Bengals WR A.J. Green on Tuesday afternoon. Rapoport tweeted, "Based on what they found cleaning out the ankle, he's now expected to miss a few games." That's 3 varying reports from Rapoport on Green today. We already shaved a couple of games off Green's projection after the initial diagnosis, though. His position at the bottom of WR2 territory seems appropriate for now ... at least until the next thing "sources" say.

Bengals WR A.J. Green underwent a "minor ankle procedure" on Tuesday morning, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The surgery was aimed at cleaning out the ankle after Saturday's injury, per Rapoport, and doesn't change Green's timeline for return. Rapoport even says "Week 1 is still possible" for Green. We'll continue to keep a close eye on his rehab, but fantasy owners should still be expecting Green to miss at least a game or 2 after he was slapped with a 6-8 week timetable for return.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that there has been no final diagnosis of Bengals WR A.J. Green's injury yet. The wideout did get a 2nd opinion and is not currently in line for surgery. Rapoport said the team will re-evaluate the injured area in "a couple of weeks." Rapoport added no one he's talked to has ruled Green out for the opener. Although there's optimism in the Green report, we fantasy drafters would prefer a little more certainty to this situation.

Update: After reporting Green had no surgery plans, Rapoport reported that Green had a “minor procedure” Tuesday morning to “clear it out.” Week 1 reportedly remains a possibility

An MRI on Sunday revealed that Bengals WR A.J. Green tore ligaments in his left ankle in Saturday's practice, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. The injury is expected to sideline him 6-8 weeks, which will spill over into the regular season. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero erports that there's no surgery in the plans now and that Green will be getting a 2nd opinion. Bengals WR John Ross has also been dealing with hamstring tightness.

Bengals WR A.J. Green suffered a low-ankle sprain in Saturday's practice, Elise Jesse of WLWT-TV in Cincinnati reports. The news could have been a lot worse after the veteran wideout left the field on a cart. We'll see about a timetable for his return but aren't moving Green down our rankings over this.

Injury Predictor

After losing 6 games to a hamstring tear in 2016, Green returned to play a full 16 games for the 4th time in 6 years. He has also topped 130 targets each of those years and 1,000 receiving yards in 6 of 7 seasons. Green needs to rebound from his fewest receptions per game since his rookie year and career lows in yards per game and catch rate. The Bengals offense on whole tanked in 2017.
