The Colts signed former Ravens DE Arthur Jones to a 5-year, $33 million deal Tuesday, including $16 million guaranteed. Jones started from Week 2 on last year after returning from a camp injury but played just 55.3% of Baltimore's defensive snaps. The big money sets him up as closer to a full-time player in Indy under former Ravens DC Chuck Pagano. Jones tallied 8.5 sacks over the pasts 2 seasons in a limited role and while working as a strong run-stuffer. Pro Football Focus graded him 12th best overall among 3-4 DEs last season. He'll carry some sleeper potential with his position in the 2014 IDP rankings.
Ravens DE Arthur Jones is active for today's clash with the Browns. Jones missed most of the preseason with an infection near his heart but returned to practice before the regular season. It's not yet clear how much he'll play, but IDP owners should keep an eye on him going forward. At the least, his return will boost the Baltimore D overall.
Ravens DL Arthur Jones returned to practice Wednesday for the 1st time since contracting an infection near his heart in August. Jones missed the opener at Denver but finally got his ailment diagnosed and treated. Once he gets back into football shape -- and the lineup -- he'll carry IDP upside if you're in a deeper league. On offense, Baltimore also had RT Michael Oher on the field Wednesday. He missed much of the opening loss to Denver after spraining his ankle. The Broncos took advantage of that absence, so Oher's return will be important for halting Browns OLB Jabaal Sheard.
Ravens DL Arthur Jones could return to the field soon, according to the Baltimore Sun. Jones has missed several weeks with a viral infection near his heart that has reportedly cleared up. He took to Twitter with positive messages on his healing Friday night. We'll have to see what kind of shape he's in before knowing how soon Jones will prove useful to both the Ravens and fantasy football owners. But he's a deep sleeper type if you play in an IDP league that requires multiple D-line starters. And his presence at 100% would undoubtedly boost a team D that struggled in Denver.
