CB Justin Bethel was supposed to take over the starting job opposite CB Patrick Peterson this season, but he has yet to practice in training camp because of a foot injury. That has presented a starting opportunity to rookie Brandon Williams, who might hang on to it, according to the Arizona Republic. “It’s Brandon’s job right now,” HC Bruce Arians said. “You can’t win it if you’re not practicing.” That indicates Bethel could still reclaim the job once he returns, but the Cardinals have also reportedly been impressed with their rookie, who played just 1 year of CB in college after spending the 1st 3 as a RB. Arizona plays primarily man coverage, which should help Williams by making the assignments less complicated. Peterson's presence on the other side, meanwhile, has often pushed more pass attempts to the opposite side. Whoever emerges as the starter will carry sneaky IDP upside into the 2016 season and is sure to be tested by opposing offenses. Williams has now passed Bethel in our DB rankings.
