The Buccaneers have ruled CB Brent Grimes (shoulder) out for the 2nd straight game, which certainly only helps the Saints' passing game. DE Robert Ayers (ankle) and OLB Kendell Beckwith (knee) are questionable after limited practice weeks. Ayers has been playing through questionable tags for several weeks. Beckwith's issue is new. Neither is an IDP factor even if active.

CB Brent Grimes has signed a 1-year, $5.5 million deal with the Dolphins.  It's a strong pickup for Miami, which allowed starting CB Sean Smith to leave for K.C. in free agency.  Grimes missed nearly all of last season after tearing an Achilles' tendon in Week 1, but the early injury date should help his readiness for 2013.  He missed 4 games in 2011 but graded out as Pro Football Focus' #3 overall CB and 3rd best in coverage.  Grimes grabbed 11 INTs over the previous 2 seasons and earned a Pro Bowl trip in 2010.  This looks like a "prove it" contract heading into his age-30 season.  Grimes is worth considering for your IDP lineup, but his fantasy football value can be hurt by his strong cover skills.  It'll help if the Dolphins assign him each opponent's top WR as the Falcons used to.

Falcons CB Brent Grimes is done for the season after suffering an Achilles' tendon injury that will require surgery. That leaves Asante Samuel and Dunta Robinson as the 2 outside CBs for Atlanta. Robinson is the better IDP option, both because he's not as strong a cover man and because he's actually interested in tackling. The Falcons' explosive offense could further help the fantasy profile for a guy who opened his career as a useful IDP in Houston.

Falcons CB Brent Grimes suffered an Achilles injury on Sunday that will force him to miss the rest of the season.  It's a massive blow to the Atlanta defense.  Grimes has emerged as one of the top cover corners in the game, finishing 3rd at the position in Pro Football Focus' 2011 pass coverage rankings.  The good news is that the Falcons have quality depth at the position in Asante Samuel and Dunta Robinson.

The Falcons applied the franchise tag to CB Brent Grimes. Formerly an undrafted free agent, Grimes has developed into the kind of cover man that trails opponents' #1 WR. That duty allows him to see enough passes to be useful in IDP leagues. Grimes isn't a high-end option but provides upside for CB-specific slots.
