Texans WR Demaryius Thomas will miss the rest of the season with a ruptured left Achilles, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's a devastating injury for the 31-year-old and makes him questionable for the start of the 2019 campaign. It's also a big loss for a Texans team thin at WR. We'll see if they get rookie Keke Coutee (hamstring) back for Week 17. DeAndre Carter and Vyncint Smith are Houston's other WRs.

Texans WR Demaryius Thomas was carted to the locker room after suffering what appeared to be a right knee injury in the 2nd half of Sunday's game against the Eagles. This has the look of a serious injury. We'll update Thomas' status when we learn more.

Update: The team announced Thomas with an Achilles injury. If it's torn, he'll be done for the season.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, WR Demaryius Thomas will be in the starting lineup for the Texans today against the Broncos after his trade earlier in the week. That's no surprise, of course, given that Houston lost Will Fuller last week, won't have Keke Coutee available today and traded a draft pick for the veteran. But it confirms that Thomas can be used in fantasy lineups for Week 9. We'll see, though, how smoothly his transition goes. And the Denver matchup remains a negative spot for WR scoring.

The Broncos and Texans are close to finalizing a deal that will send WR Demaryius Thomas to Houston in exchange for a mid-round pick, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. The Texans need an outside WR to pair with DeAndre Hopkins after losing Will Fuller to a torn ACL. Thomas' best days are clearly behind him, but he's a veteran WR who will at least command some defensive attention. From a fantasy standpoint, he's no better than a WR3 the rest of the way. We wouldn't be surprised if rookie WR Keke Coutee out-targets Thomas going forward. The big winner here is WR Courtland Sutton, who becomes the clear #2 WR in Denver. He's been impressive with limited volume this year, averaging a big 19.1 yards per catch. Consider him a weekly WR3 with upside.

Update: The Texans are sending a 4th-round pick to Denver, and the teams will also swap 7th rounders.

Broncos WR Demaryius Thomas (wrist) returned to practice on Monday. He missed last weekend's preseason game, but the wrist is nothing to worry about. Thomas remains a nice value at his 4th-round ADP.

Injury Predictor

Thomas hasn't missed a game since 2011, his 2nd season. He has cracked 140 targets and 80 receptions in each of the 6 years since, falling short of 1,000 receiving yards for the 1st time in that span last year. The veteran could be a value pick in fantasy football drafts this summer, now that the Broncos have spent on a QB (Case Keenum in free agency) and appear ready to move Thomas around the formation more.
