49ers TE George Kittle revealed that he suffered “fractured cartilage” to his rib cage on the 3rd play of Week 9's game against the Raiders. “It didn’t feel very good,” he said. “I wore two giant rib protectors for the rest of the season.” Kittle went for 108 yards and a score in that Raiders game and then ranked 3rd among TEs in fantasy points from Week 10 on. So the injury obviously wasn't a major factor. Kittle has missed just 1 game through his first 2 NFL seasons but was listed on the injury report with hamstring, calf, hip, chest, back, elbow and ankle issues as a rookie. He also suffered shoulder and foot injuries in his final college season. While he's shown the ability to produce through injuries, he might be a bigger durability risk going forward than he appears at first glance.

49ers TE George Kittle (knee) is active. He was limited in practice all week but remains the top TE play in tonight’s game against the Packers.

Niners TE George Kittle (knee) is questionable for Monday night's game against the Packers. He put in limited practices all week and didn't appear to miss any significant time with the issue in last week's game. We'd bet on Kittle playing Monday night. Garrett Celek should be available as an emergency fill-in should Kittle land on the inactive list.

49ers TE George Kittle (shoulder) is not listed on the Week 1 injury report. He missed most of August after suffering a separated shoulder in the preseason opener. Kittle also has a tough matchup on Sunday against a Vikings defense that allowed the fewest PPR points to TEs last year. We’d try to avoid using him in Week 1 fantasy lineups.

49ers TE George Kittle (shoulder) returned to what insider Joe Fann called a "very limited" practice on Tuesday. Kittle "worked through individual drills and caught some passes standing still, but he didn’t run any routes," according to Fann. Kittle is making progress in his recovery from a separated shoulder in the preseason opener, but he still seems questionable to be ready for Week 1. We'll continue to keep an eye on him.
