Panthers TE Greg Olsen told reporters after Sunday's loss that he ruptured the plantar fascia in his right foot and expects to miss the rest of the season. This is the same foot that Olsen has broken twice over the past 2 seasons, and he believes the latest injury was a result of trying to compensate for those previous breaks. Olsen's absence will leave Ian Thomas as Carolina's lead pass-catching TE the rest of the way. In the 3 games Olsen missed earlier this year, Thomas totaled 8 catches on 14 targets. He'll be a low-end spot-start option moving forward.

Panthers TE Greg Olsen is out for the rest of Sunday's game against the Bucs with a right foot injury. That's the same foot he's broken twice over the past 2 seasons. Olsen's 2018 campaign might be very well be over. That'd leave rookie Ian Thomas as Carolina's lead TE.

Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) is active for today’s game against the Redskins. He’s a risky fantasy play in his 1st game back since breaking his foot 5 weeks ago.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirms that Panthers TE Greg Olsen (foot) will play against the Redskins today. Rapoport adds that Olsen will draw the start -- which, frankly, doesn't mean much. It's still possible that Olsen is limited in his 1st game back since breaking his foot for the 2nd time in 13 months. Consider him a risky, low-end TE1 option.

The Panthers list TE Greg Olsen (foot) as questionable for this weekend's game against the Redskins. He practiced all week, including full workouts on Thursday and Friday. HC Ron Rivera said Friday that he "likes [Olsen's] chances" of playing. We'll get his official status by noon ET on Sunday. If active, he'll be a risk/reward fantasy starter.

Olsen had played a full 16 games for 9 straight seasons, but a broken foot shattered that in 2017. The Week 2 injury kept him out until Week 12, and then soreness in the foot cost Olsen Week 13 and much of the following game. He returned to close out the year, though, including an 8-107-1 receiving line at New Orleans in Carolina's playoff loss. Olsen's healthy heading into 2018, though, and even got an offseason extension at age 33.
