Packers HC Mike McCarthy likes what he's seen from WR Jared Abbrederis this offseason. "I think Jared's had his best offseason," McCarthy said. "I think his route running is exemplary for a young guy. His ability to recognize coverages, and his time clock, his breaking points, his ability to drop his weight -- just all the specifics and details and techniques of route running, I think he's exceptional. He just needs to continue to work on getting stronger. He plays the position technically and fundamentally at a very high level." Abbrederis has struggled with injuries -- a torn ACL in 2014 and a concussion last summer -- but stepped up to haul in 6 balls for 69 yards in Green Bay's 2 playoff games last year. He's in the mix for the #3 WR job this season, along with Jeff Janis, Davante Adams and Ty Montgomery.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers wants WR Jared Abbrederis' role to grow.  He played a season-high 27 snaps in Sunday's win over the Raiders, hauling in all 3 of his targets for 33 yards.  WR Davante Adams was inefficient again, turning 8 targets into 32 scoreless yards.  We'll see if Abbrederis starts to eat into Adams' playing time.  Neither guy is a Week 16 fantasy option.

Packers WR Jared Abbrederis has a torn ACL.  He believes he suffered the injury on Wednesday.  He practiced on Thursday before being diagnosed with the torn ligament in his right knee.  The 5th-round rookie was battling just for a roster spot in Green Bay's deep WR corps.  Abbrederis will return in 2015 to contend for a job in the slot.  His chances hinge heavily on whether the Packers can re-sign WR Randall Cobb.

The Packers grabbed WR Jared Abbrederis in the 5th round.  A former walk-on at Wisconsin, Abbrederis ended up leading the team in catches, yards and TDs in 2012 and 2013. The 6'1, 195-pounder isn't a burner but is quick in and out of his breaks.  He's also one of the best route-runners in this draft class and has a high football IQ.  Abbrederis looks like a long-term #3 WR in the pros.  It's also worth noting that he suffered at least 2 concussions at Wisconsin, in addition to a broken foot and rib injury.
