Packers WR Jeff Janis will miss 4-6 weeks after undergoing finger surgery. Janis had screws put in the bones around his right index finger. Once a popular late-round pick, Janis is now undraftable in all leagues. Davante Adams looks poised for the #3 WR role.

Packers WR Jeff Janis suffered a fracture to at least 1 of the bones in his right hand, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN. The injury reportedly occurred in Wednesday’s practice. Janis has garnered mixed reviews as he battles for the #3 WR gig, but this injury could keep him off the field into the regular season. Davante Adams is the current favorite to play in 3-WR sets.

The Packers' initial depth chart lists WR Jeff Janis 3rd at his outside spot, behind Jordy Nelson and Davante Adams. Jared Abbrederis, meanwhile, sits 2nd behind Randall Cobb at the other wideout. Janis' raw athleticism has made him a favorite sleeper of some in the fantasy football community the past couple of years, but this follows negative buzz on the player failing to improve his technique and alienating QB Aaron Rodgers. Hanging on to Janis in dynasty is fine, but don't count on a 2016 contribution. We'll see if he's in danger of missing the regular-season roster.

Packers HC Mike McCarthy said Monday that WR Jeff Janis remained "inconsistent" in 2015.  "Had some chances, up-and-down," McCarthy added. "But with that, I think he definitely learned from those experiences and just had a tremendous game against Arizona."  Janis played just 131 offensive snaps and caught 2 of 11 targets during the regular season.  But he flashed his upside with a massive 7-145-2 line in Sunday's Divisional Round loss to the Cardinals.  Still just 24 with a 6'3, 219-pound frame and elite measurables, Janis has breakout potential if he can earn a more consistent role in 2016.

Packers QB Aaron Rodgers is looking for more consistency from WR Jeff Janis.  "Jeff will have some great days and some days where mentally he's making too many mistakes," Rodgers said.  He added that the "talent and athleticism are there" for Janis, but that doesn't mean much if he's not on the same page as his QB.  Ty Montgomery will open the season as Green Bay's #3 WR, but we're still not ruling out Janis taking over that spot at some point this year.  Both guys are intriguing late-round fliers.
