The Chargers will be without LB Jatavis Brown (groin) and LB Kyzir White (knee) for today's game against the Browns. That leaves the defense down to its #3 weak-side LB, with only Denzel Perryman as an IDP option in the LB corps.
Chargers LB Denzel Perryman (hamstring) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Raiders. He'll carry upside into that one if active, but the hammy makes him tough to use in IDP lineups even if Perryman starts. The Chargers have also ruled out S Adrian Phillips (ankle).
Chargers DT Corey Liuget (back) is inactive for today's game against the Broncos. He's not a terrific IDP option when healthy, so his status shouldn't affect fantasy lineups. S Adrian Phillips (neck) is active but hasn't seen consistent enough playing time yet to be an IDP option.
On the same day they announced their relocation to Los Angeles, the Chargers named Anthony Lynn their new HC. Lynn has 17 seasons of experience in the NFL, but all but 1 of those were spent as a special teams or RB coach. Lynn was promoted to OC in Buffalo prior to Week 3 of this past season and was then named interim HC for the season finale. The Bills averaged 25.8 points per game under Lynn's watch -- a mark that would have ranked 8th league-wide. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Chargers are hoping to retain OC Ken Whisenhunt and hire Gus Bradley as DC.
The Chargers have fired HC Mike McCoy. He went 28-38 in his 4-year tenure, including just 9 wins over the past 2 seasons. And a bunch of those were ugly, late-game meltdowns. Whoever takes over in San Diego will have an aging-but-still-effective QB in Philip Rivers and a young group of talented skill-position guys in Melvin Gordon, Keenan Allen, Tyrell Williams and Hunter Henry.
