Mack lost weeks 3 and 4 to a shoulder injury in his rookie season. We finally learned this spring that Mack played through a labrum tear that eventually required spring surgery. The timing kept Mack out of spring workouts. He enters training camp as the expected front-runner in an open backfield that shed Frank Gore in the offseason but could face competition from rookies Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins.
