Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official website believes RB David Johnson's receiving ability will "come back to the forefront" in HC Kliff Kingsbury's offense. "Johnson should fit perfectly into the new Cardinals’ offense," Urban adds. After posting a huge 80-879-4 receiving line in 2016, Johnson posted a relatively disappointing 50-446-3 in a stale 2018 Arizona offense. Kingsbury is expected to bring his Air Raid principles and an up-tempo attack to the desert. It should suit Johnson perfectly considering he does his best work out in space. His upside extends to the top of the RB position this year.

Cardinals RB David Johnson (quad) is not listed on the final Week 15 injury report. He sat out Wednesday but put in a limited practice on Thursday and was a full-go on Friday. The quad shouldn’t be an issue against the Falcons this weekend.

Cardinals RB David Johnson (quad) did not practice on Wednesday. HC Steve Wilks said afterward that he expects Johnson to play against the Falcons this weekend, so this sounds like more of a maintenance day. Check back tomorrow for another update on D.J.'s status.

The Cardinals have fired OC Mike McCoy, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. About 6 weeks too late. Arizona is averaging a pathetic 13.1 points and 221 total yards per game. McCoy's usage of RB David Johnson was particularly terrible. McCoy will be replaced by former QB Byron Leftwich, who's been with the Cardinals since the start of last season but has no play-calling experience. Don't expect drastic improvement from Arizona's offense -- but it can't get any worse.

A dislocated wrist ended Johnson's 2017 season in the opener. After surgery, he reported being back to full healthy by January. That followed a 2016 in which Johnson endured 293 carries and 80 receptions before leading Week 17 early with an MCL sprain. Johnson returns to a workhorse role in what figures to be a much weaker Cardinals offense than the 2016 version.
