Chiefs DT Chris Jones (calf) is inactive for today's game against the Texans. That leaves the Kansas City D-line without a top run defender and a key component in the pass rush. Jones also missed the Week 6 meeting, in which Texans RB Carlos Hyde tallied 116 yards on 26 carries. Today's matchup gets better for Hyde with Jones out.
Chiefs DT Chris Jones is questionable for Sunday's game against the Texans. Jones sustained a calf injury in Thursday's practice and then missed Friday's workout. Jones missed 3 games earlier this season, a span that included losses to Houston and Green Bay. Jones' absence would hurt both the run defense and the pass rush. We'll see about his availability Sunday afternoon.
Chiefs DT Chris Jones suffered a groin injury in the 3rd quarter of Sunday night's game against the Colts. The team quickly ruled Jones out, which suggests the issue could be significant. We'll see about Jones' availability for an upside Week 6 matchup with the Texans.
Update: NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports that Jones is expected to miss further time and is considered "week to week." Don't expect to have him for the upside matchup with the Texans this week.
The Chiefs spent the 37th overall pick of the NFL Draft on DL Chris Jones. It was K.C.'s 1st selection after the team traded out of Round 1 with San Francisco. Jones could play DE in the Chiefs' 3-4 front and/or potentially over at NT should Dontari Poe leave after this final year on his contract. Jones didn't tally more than 3 sacks in any college season and doesn't look like a strong IDP candidate for fantasy football owners.
