The Packers have signed former Bears DE Julius Peppers to a 3-year deal that will pay him $8.5 million guaranteed, according to NFL.com's Ian Rapoport.  That's the important portion of a contract reportedly "worth" $30 million overall, but it also seems a pretty hefty sum for a 34-year-old player in decline.  Peppers figures to play some OLB and rush DE in a Packers scheme that hopes to get more "multiple" with its fronts in 2014.  We're not getting excited about his outlook for the 2014 IDP rankings, but it'll help his fantasy value if Peppers can retain his DL designation.

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports that the Bears will try to trade DE Julius Peppers before Tuesday's start of free agency -- and release him if they can't deal him.  That has become code for "they're going to cut him."  If you can find a team willing to pay $13.9 million in 2014 salary to a declining 34-year-old D-lineman ... well, then we've got some stuff up for sale.  Peppers is nearing the end, and the Bears are chasing a replacement in free agency.

Bears DE Julius Peppers is surprisingly active for tonight's game against the Vikings.  He'll be playing through a sprained MCL, so there's a good chance his snaps will be limited.  Peppers is an extremely risky fantasy option.

Bears DE Julius Peppers is doubtful for Sunday's game, according to beat writer Vaughn McClure. Peppers sprained a knee in Monday night's loss to the Lions, but it was expected that he'd play against the Vikings. It's just as well that IDP owners won't have him, because he wouldn't have been a safe play anyway.

Bears RDE Julius Peppers missed his 2nd straight day of practice Thursday because of a sprained left MCL he suffered in the MNF loss to Detroit. ESPNChicago.com's Jeff Dickerson reports that HC Lovie Smith hopes to have Peppers back in practice Friday. Dickerson also reports that LDE Israel Idonije expects Peppers to be in the lineup Sunday. Even if he is, Peppers looks like a weak IDP bet. He's facing lots of blocking attention this season and has just 1 sack in the past 4 games (after a 2-sack opener).
