Adam Vinatieri Injury Updates

Colts HC Frank Reich said Monday that K Adam Vinatieri is dealing with a groin injury. That explains why the usually reliable veteran missed a pair of XPs in yesterday's win over the Bills. The Colts will work out Ks this week, so Vinatieri isn't a lock to play against the Raiders on Sunday. Look elsewhere for your Week 8 K.

Colts K Adam Vinatieri missed Tuesday's practice with a right groin injury. He was listed as a full participant on Monday. It's unclear if he suffered a setback or just got the day off. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow.

Colts K Adam Vinatieri is participating fully in the team's OTAs this week.  A knee injury kept the 14-year veteran out of last year's playoffs, but it sounds like he's back to 100%.  On this offense, he's an elite fantasy option when healthy.  But we can't call a 37-year-old kicker recovering from a bum knee a safe pick.

The Colts starting K was downgraded from Questionablle to Out on the team's official injury report.  Viniateri will be replaced by Matt Stover for the regular seaspon finale at Buffalo.
Colts K Adam Vinatieri left the Texans game with a groin injury. He was already dealing with a sprained ligament/chipped bone in his non-kicking foot. Vinatieri kicked fine, drilling FGs from 39, 43, & 38 yards, then left in the 4th quarter. P Hunter Smith came in and had a PAT blocked.
NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Colts brought in K Martin Gramatica for a look yesterday. That's a sign that Adam Vinatieri's groin injury is significant. Vinatieri is listed as questionable but we're thinking doubtful.
Colts K Adam Vinatieri is wearing a brace on his non-kicking foot (broken bone, sprained ligament) but says he'll play this Sunday. "In 10 years in the NFL, I've not missed a game and I'm not planning to miss one any time soon. Obviously, I'm going to kick as many as I can this week and not overdo it." He's tough enough to kick through this injury -- but that doesn't mean he'll kick well. Bench Vinatieri and make him earn your starting job this year.
Updating last week's report, Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri has been held out of practice since Aug. 15 with what could be a serious ankle injury. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports "One player who knows Vinatieri says the kicker has a broken bone in his ankle." If true, that means he's had two weeks to heal, but might still miss a minimum of 2 games. When asked about the injury Vinatieri didn't confirm or deny it, which means he's definitely hurt. His replacement would be Shane Andrus. His career highlight is a 52-yard kick that sent Murray State to the Ohio Valley Conference playoffs. They could re-sign Martin Gramatica (just cut by New England) too. Vinatieri-owners should prepare their rosters accordingly.
We're hearing Colts K Adam Vinatieri's ankle injury could keep him out of the opener.
Colts HC Tony Dungy said kicker Adam Vinatieri hurt his ankle while running in drills Monday. "He did it in conditioning, and he's day-to-day," Dungy said.
