Eric Decker Injury Updates

Ben Volin of the Boston Globe projected New England's 53-man roster Monday and did not include Kenny Britt among the WRs. Volin projects Chris Hogan, Phillip Dorsett, Eric Decker and Cordarrelle Patterson making the roster, with Julian Edelman opening the year on suspension and Riley McCarron going to the practice squad. Britt has yet to practice in training camp because of a hamstring injury. "If Britt can't get on the field soon, his time with the Patriots might end swiftly," Volin writes. This is just 1 writer's opinion, of course, but we have to weigh all these opinions from regular observers of the team this time of year -- especially when deciding how to treat murky situations such as New England's WR corps in our fantasy football drafts. For now, Britt's a risky late-round option in any format. If he does get the boot, there's no guarantee he catches on elsewhere. Among the 3 new veterans listed, Patterson is probably the best bet to stick because of his value in the return game.

Titans WR Eric Decker will miss the team's 3rd preseason game with an ankle injury, HC Mike Mularkey said. It's not ideal for a guy coming off an injury-wrecked season and settling into a new offense, but we've heard nothing to suggest that Decker is in danger of missing the start of the regular season. He's fine to draft as a WR3 at his 9th-round ADP.

Jets WR Eric Decker (knee) did not practice on Wednesday.  He's yet to get back on the field since suffering that PCL injury 9 days ago.  He looks iffy for Sunday's game against the Dolphins.

Jets HC Todd Bowles labeled WR Eric Decker "day to day" with the sprained knee he suffered in Monday night's win over the Colts.  Bowles is "hopeful" that Decker will be ready for this Sunday's game against the Eagles.  We'll keep an eye on his practice participation this week, but it at least looks like Decker avoided a serious injury.

Jets WR Eric Decker reportedly suffered a PCL injury in Monday night's win over the Colts.  For now, doctors don't believe he'll need surgery.  But we'll learn more about the severity and timeline for Decker's return after he undergoes additional testing on Tuesday.  His absence will create an opportunity for WR Devin Smith to get in the mix.  The rookie has been practicing for a couple of weeks now after fracturing 3 ribs and puncturing a lung early in August, but he's been inactive for New York's first 2 games.

Jets WR Eric Decker left Monday night's game against the Colts in the 4th quarter with a knee injury, Brian Costello of the New York Post reports. The team has deemed him doubtful to return. We'll check on his status heading into Week 3 after Decker delivered an 8-97-1 receiving line in a positive matchup.

Jets WR Eric Decker (hamstring) is active for tonight's game against the Bears. "I feel good. I'm up," he told ESPN's Lisa Salters after pregame warmups.  It's unclear whether Decker will play a full slate of snaps, and there's always a chance of re-injury.  But if you have an open WR spot, Decker is your 3rd-best option behind Brandon Marshall and Alshon Jeffery.

Jets WR Eric Decker (hamstring) is listed as questionable for Monday night's game against the Bears.  He put in a limited practice on Saturday, which gives him a chance to play.  But we probably won't know his status until 90 minutes before kickoff.  That puts fantasy owners in a tough spot.  Potential fill-ins like Jeremy Kerley, David Nelson and Santonio Holmes aren't great options.  Decker is best off on fantasy benches this week.  He'll be at risk of re-injury if he plays.

Jets WR Eric Decker suffered a hamstring injury in the 2nd half of Sunday's game against the Packers.  His return is considered doubtful.  We'll keep an eye on his practice participation throughout the coming week.

Broncos WRs Wes Welker (ankle) and Eric Decker (toe) missed practice Wednesday and thus showed up on the injury reports.  But Broncos beat writers reported that both were among a group given the day off.  No reason to worry about the status for either wideout in Week 8.

Updating a previous report, Broncos LT Ryan Clady will be placed on IR with the Lisfranc injury he sustained in Week 2.  Denver was originally hoping to get Clady back later this season.  It's a massive loss.  Clady graded out as the league's 4th-best OT last year, per Pro Football Focus.  He'll be replaced by Chris Clark.  The former undrafted free agent played just 72 snaps as a swing tackle last year.  The situation is worth monitoring, but if anyone can handle it, it's Peyton Manning.  Few guys have a better combination of protection, pocket awareness and quick release.

Broncos LT Ryan Clady suffered a Lisfranc injury in Sunday's win over the Giants.  He'll miss "at least a few weeks," per ESPN's Adam Schefter.  It's obviously bad news for QB Peyton Manning and Denver's pass-catchers.  But Manning has supreme awareness and underrated pocket mobility.  He should be just fine.

Broncos WR Eric Decker confirmed that the knee injury he suffered in last season's playoff win over the Steelers isn't any issue heading into 2012.  “I feel great," he said. "It took me probably about a month after the MCL sprain to get back and then it was just conditioning, getting in the weight room and then really taking care of my body... This is the best I’ve felt going into training camp and I think I’m looking forward to having a big year.”  Decker also revealed that he's been working out at Larry Fitzgerald's camp over the past few weeks.  Participation there has preceeded breakout seasons for plenty of WRs in recent years.  Decker is fully capable of joining that group in 2012.  We're all over him at his current 6th-round ADP.

NFL.com's Jeff Darlington confirms that Broncos WR Eric Decker (knee) has "no chance" to play against the Patriots this weekend.  He has a sprained MCL, which is usually a 3-4 week injury.  Decker's season is almost certainly over -- even if Denver beats New England on Saturday night.  Eddie Royal will take over as the Broncos' #2 WR.

The Denver Post reports that Broncos WR Eric Decker suffered a "serious" ACL injury in Sunday's win over the Steelers.  Decker took a hit straight to the knee in the 2nd quarter and was immediately ruled out for the rest of the game.  It's likely a torn ACL, and we should get confirmation tomorrow.  WR Eddie Royal will start in Decker's place against the Patriots this Saturday.

Broncos beat writer Mike Klis reports that WR Eddie Royal will miss 2-4 weeks with the strained groin he suffered this past Sunday.  Royal was already being passed by WR Eric Decker in the pecking order, and this just expedites the process.  Decker has WR3 upside going forward and is worth a waiver wire add this week.

10:43am EDT 8/14/11

WR Eric Decker has been running with the 1st team as Z receiver for the past week while Eddie Royal sits out. Royal is out with soreness in the hip that didn't require off-season surgery. He's expected back this week -- before the 2nd exhibition game. Still, extra time with the starters can only help Decker's case for playing time. The hip, of course, is a worrisome spot for Royal in light of last year's injury. That led to problems with his groin and thigh. Neither is tremendously appealing in fantasy right now, but Decker seems the more-attractive late-round shot.

Broncos rookie WR Eric Decker suffered a left foot sprain at practice yesterday.  At first, not much was thought of the injury. But doctors found a pre-existing high ankle sprain to go along with this new injury. Decker is expected to have an MRI done later today to determine whether or not the foot sprain has any relation to the Lisfranc fracture he suffered not long ago.  If the two are related, Decker could miss substantial time.  Decker wasn't a fantasy option outside of keeper leagues anyways.
