The Patriots have claimed TE Martellus Bennett. He, of course, spent last season in New England, racking up 55 catches for 701 yards and 7 TDs. Bennett was a bust with the Packers this year and is dealing with a shoulder injury now. If healthy, though, he has a shot to make some noise down the stretch. He's not worth adding yet outside of deep fantasy leagues, but Bennett's status will certainly be worth monitoring.
Packers TE Martellus Bennett has missed the first 2 practices of the week with a shoulder injury. He still has 1 more chance to get out there on Saturday ahead of Monday night's game against the Lions, but it certainly looks like Bennett is in danger of missing that one. He's been a major disappointment this season and wasn't in the TE1 mix this week anyway.
The Packers signed TE Martellus Bennett to a multi-year deal. It's the 1st unrestricted free agent from another team the Packers have inked since 2012. Bennett, who turned 30 today, finished 10th among TEs in PPR points last year -- despite battling ankle and shoulder injuries. It was his 4th top-12 finish in the past 5 seasons. Bennett joins a loaded pass-catching corps in Green Bay, but Aaron Rodgers' efficiency means there are fantasy points to go around for everyone. Bennett will sit safely inside TE1 territory in the 2017 fantasy rankings.
Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski (lung) is expected to play against the Jets today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Considering the nature of his injury, he shouldn't be at all limited in his return. Gronk is safe to get back into fantasy lineups. TE Martellus Bennett (ankle) and WR Chris Hogan (back) are also expected to play today, per Rapoport.
Patriots TE Martellus Bennett (ankle) did not practice on Thursday after a limited workout on Wednesday. He's been on the injury report for a while, but this is his 1st missed practice since Week 8. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow.
Patriots TE Martellus Bennett suffered an ankle injury on the team's 1st drive of Sunday's game against the Browns. He's officially questionable to return. Stay tuned for an update.
Update: Bennett returned on the next series.
Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski will miss his 2nd straight game with a hamstring injury today against the Dolphins, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. We'll certainly confirm that once the early-game inactives come out, but you need to make sure that you have a Week 2 replacement if you had been hoping to get Gronk back. Martellus Bennett will be a fringe starting option despite a quiet Week 1 in Gronk's absence.
The Bears have placed TE Martellus Bennett (rib) on IR, ending his 2015 season. Bennett suffered the injury in Week 11, missed Week 12 and struggled trying to play through it this past Sunday. He finishes with 53 catches, 439 yards and 3 scores in 11 games. Chicago has signed TE Rob Housler, but TE Zach Miller will serve as the lead pass-catcher the rest of the way. He's scored 4 times in his past 5 games and is on the spot-start radar.
Bears TE Zach Miller is expected to play against the 49ers today, despite a fractured rib, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Miller 1st appeared on the injury report on Thursday, so the injury might have occurred in practice this week. That, plus TE Martellus Bennett's return, makes Miller a risky Week 13 fantasy start.
Bears WR Marquess Wilson injured his foot in Wednesday's practice and was held out on Thursday. His availability for this weekend's game against the 49ers is obviously in doubt. Wilson's absence would mean even more targets for WR Alshon Jeffery and also make TE Martellus Bennett a safer fantasy play.
Bears TE Martellus Bennett (ribs) has been ruled out for Thursday night's game against the Packers. He played through the injury last week, but the short turnaround here did him in. Bennett's absence will mean an even bigger role for TE Zach Miller, who's hauled in 10 of 13 targets for 177 yards and 3 TDs over the past 3 games. Green Bay, meanwhile, has allowed a TE TD in 3 straight. Miller is in the Week 12 spot-start discussion.
Bears QB Jay Cutler is expected to miss "at least" 2 weeks with the hamstring injury he suffered in Sunday's loss to the Cardinals, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. That leaves QB Jimmy Clausen under center for games against the Seahawks and Raiders -- and maybe beyond. Don't bother picking him up in fantasy leagues. Chicago will look to ride RB Matt Forte and the ground game until Cutler returns. As inconsistent as Cutler can be, this is still a downgrade for WR Alshon Jeffery and TE Martellus Bennett.
Bears TE Martellus Bennett (knee) is listed as questionable but is fully expected to play against the Redskins on Sunday. He played through the injury a couple Thursdays ago, hauling in 6 balls for 68 yards. After 10 days to rest up, the knee shouldn't be an issue this weekend. We like Bennett as a mid-range TE1 in the plus matchup.
Bears TE Martellus Bennett (knee) is active for tonight’s game against the Giants. He played through the injury last week and put in limited practices on Tuesday and Wednesday. The knee shouldn’t be a significant issue tonight.
Bears HC Marc Trestman labeled TE Martellus Bennett (knee) a game-time decision for Thursday night's tilt with the Giants. Most signs point to him playing, though. Bennett returned to last weekend's game after suffering the injury, put in a limited practice on Tuesday and said Wednesday that he "feels fine." We'll have Bennett's official status around 7 pm ET tomorrow. He'll be a low-end TE1 if active.
Bears TE Martellus Bennett said he "messed up" his shoulder in Sunday's win over the Vikings. But HC Marc Trestman said Monday that Bennett is only dealing with a bruise, has full range of motion and will be fine. We'll track Bennett's status this week but he should be ready for Sunday night's game against the Steelers.
Bears TE Martellus Bennett injured his shoulder on a 2nd-quarter catch against the Vikings. "I messed up my shoulder so I’m in a lot of pain right now," he said afterward. Bennett played through the injury on Sunday, though, so he should be fine for Week 3. We'll monitor his status this coming week.
Giants TE Martellus Bennett isn't listed on the Week 7 injury report. It's significant because he's been a non-factor in the passing game since hyperextending his knee a couple weeks ago. If he's truly back to 100%, he'll be back on the TE1 radar. Bennett gets the Redskins' 31st-ranked TE defense this Sunday.
Giants TE Martellus Bennett (knee) did not practice on Wednesday. He returned to last weekend's game after suffering the injury but was clearly at less than 100%. While we're tentatively expecting Bennett to play this Sunday, he's better off on your bench until he proves he's healthy.
Giants TE Martellus Bennett made waves (perhaps literally) when he reported to OTAs at 291 pounds. But Bennett says he "made weight" at the start of training camp. We're assuming that means he's back down around the 270-pound mark he played at last season. Bennett blamed a hamstring injury for the weight gain. "The thing that people don't realize is that I didn't run for five weeks and I was lifting weights," he said. "So I kind of bulked up and I am back down. I have no worries." We'll be looking for reports on Bennett's speed, explosion, and endurance in camp. If he's in shape, we still like him as a sleeper TE2. He's got some ability and is in an offense that likes to get the TE involved in the passing game.
