Overall Rookie Rankings

Team Rank Name ADP Seasons Played DS Analysis
1 Ja'Marr Chase, WR CIN N/A 0 The 5th overall pick, Chase arrives in Cincy to play with his former college QB. He opted out of the 2020 season but dropped a massive 84-1,780-20 line with Burrow as a sophomore. Pro-ready and ultra-physical, Chase will play his rookie year at 21 years old.
2 Javonte Williams, RB DEN N/A 0 Williams was an eye-popping tackle-breaker at UNC, and he’ll be given every opportunity to be Denver’s long-term lead back. The 21-year-old enters the league with little tread off his tires, never carrying more than 166 times in a season. Note that Melvin Gordon enters a contract year.
3 Najee Harris, RB PIT N/A 0 The Steelers have talked up Harris as a 3-down back. He has the requisite size (6’1, 232), and we see the talent for him to thrive in that role. We’ll see how Pittsburgh addresses the QB position long-term. 2021 could be Ben Roethlisberger’s last year in the league.
4 Jaylen Waddle, WR MIA N/A 0 The Dolphins made Waddle, 23 in November, the 6th overall pick, reuniting him with college QB Tua Tagovailoa. We loved his speed and acceleration on tape, and he’s poised for a major year 1 role. We’ll see if Tua can take a year 2 leap.
5 Kyle Pitts, TE ATL N/A 0 At 6’6, 240 pounds, Pitts is essentially a hulked up WR. He dominated at Florida with 43-770-12 in just 8 games last season. We love his fit with new Falcons HC Arthur Smith. The uber-athletic 1st rounder also doesn’t turn 21 until October.
6 DeVonta Smith, WR PHI N/A 0 Smith profiles as an eventual #1 alpha for Philly. Questions persist about his skinny frame, but we don’t see it as a serious issue. We’ll see if Jalen Hurts — or DeShaun Watson, perhaps — become the team’s long-term QB. Either way, Smith is an electric talent worth betting on.
7 Travis Etienne, RB JAC N/A 0 A Round 1 pick, Etienne landed in an Urban Meyer offense that looks awful in the pros. Looking at just the player, though, Etienne has the run/catch skill set, athleticism and college production to forecast future RB1 totals. He turns 23 in January but James Robinson may have secured his spot as the RB1 on the Jags.
8 Michael Carter, RB NYJ N/A 0 Carter dropped to Round 4, but he landed in a fine spot for immediate playing time. While he’ll never project as a workhorse, he brings the pass-catching skill set we like to see. The UNC product exited school with 82 career catches (4 seasons). We’re also high on new OC Mike LaFleur, a Kyle Shanahan disciple.
9 Elijah Moore, WR NYJ N/A 0 Moore goes just 5’10, 178 pounds, but he plays bigger. He's coming off a massive junior season at Ole Miss (86-1,193-8) and might also bring some added juice in the rushing game. While he tore up the Jets offseason program, we don’t expect a year 1 breakout. Moore doesn’t turn 22 until March.
10 Rashod Bateman, WR BAL N/A 0 Bateman checks all the boxes we're looking for in a college prospect. And he got 1st-round draft capital. The problem is that he landed with a Ravens team that will be run-heavy for as long as QB Lamar Jackson is around.
11 Elijah Mitchell, RB SF N/A 0 This 6th-round pick joins a crowded 49ers backfield alongside fellow rookie Trey Sermon, plus veterans Raheem Mostert, Jeff Wilson and Wayne Gallman. Mitchell isn’t even a lock to make the final roster. But there’s also a chance he captures a role in 1 of the league’s top rushing attacks. Mitchell brings some juice with a 4.35-second 40 time, an 83rd-percentile vertical, a 94th-percentile broad jump and a 71st-percentile 3-cone drill.
12 Kadarius Toney, WR NYG N/A 0 Toney didn’t emerge at Florida until his senior year, when he tallied 70-984-10. While in need of polish, his tape turned up impressive vision and burst. His raw profile means we should keep year 1 expectations in check. New York, meanwhile, needs to figure out if Daniel Jones is the long-term answer.
13 Amon-Ra St. Brown, WR DET N/A 0 St. Brown profiles as a big slot with trusty hands and strong body control. Targets are certainly up for grabs in the Lions' talent-thin WR corps.
14 Justin Fields, QB CHI N/A 0 Fields has the arm talent and rushing ability to be a perennial QB1. We'll see how long it takes him to get on the field and whether Chicago can surround him with enough weapons. WR Allen Robinson is notably set to hit the free-agent market next offseason.
15 Trey Lance, QB SF N/A 0 Lance started for just 1 full season at North Dakota State, so he has a big jump to make. But his combination of football IQ, arm talent and rushing ability give him an exciting fantasy ceiling. And we like the landing spot with offensive guru Kyle Shanahan.
16 Trevor Lawrence, QB JAC N/A 0 At Clemson, Lawrence performed like 1 of the top QB prospects in recent memory. Experienced, loaded with arm talent and sneaky-athletic, the 21-year-old top pick landed in a situation with plenty of weapons. DJ Chark does enter a contract season.
17 Rhamondre Stevenson, RB NE N/A 0 The Patriots backfield is a blessing and a curse. New England has finished top 10 in rushing TDs in 5 straight seasons and top 10 in rushing yards in 4 of those 5. But the RB room tends to be a guessing game from week to week. Stevenson will be cheap in drafts, though, and brings some intrigue as a 227-pounder with nimble feet.
18 Pat Freiermuth, TE PIT N/A 0 The clear TE2 in this class. Freiermuth got 2nd-round draft capital and joins a Steelers team that has Eric Ebron signed for only 1 more season. There’s a good chance Freiermuth is Pittsburgh’s starter by 2022. The question is who will be throwing him the rock at that point.
19 Terrace Marshall, WR CAR N/A 0 Marshall has an elite combination of size (6'3, 205 lbs.) and athleticism (97th percentile Relative Athletic Score) and produced well at LSU. He should immediately be Carolina's #3 WR and will have a chance to move into a top-2 role if Robby Anderson departs in free agency next offseason.
20 Rondale Moore, WR ARI N/A 0 Moore turned in 1 of the most impressive freshman seasons you'll ever see and got 2nd-round draft capital with an ascending Cardinals offense. His downfield ability is limited and he has durability questions to answer. But there's exciting upside with this 21-year-old.
21 Nico Collins, WR HOU N/A 0 Collins got nice draft capital, going in the 3rd round as the WR14. And he landed in Houston, where he’ll be competing for outside snaps with Brandin Cooks and a bunch of nobodies. It’s possible that he finishes 2nd on the team in targets this season. The QB situation, of course, is the concern.
22 Mac Jones, QB NE N/A 0 Jones is a better bet than most of the guys in this range to make some fantasy impact. But it’s tough to get excited about the ultimate fantasy upside considering he brings no rushing ability. Think Matt Ryan for the ceiling.
23 Zach Wilson, QB NYJ N/A 0 Wilson missed out on some valuable reps early in training camp (contract). He’s already facing a huge jump in competition coming from BYU. The 22-year-old was hyper-accurate in college, while the Jets brought in a coaching staff with Kyle Shanahan roots. The front office has surrounded him with plenty of young talent, so hopes are high here long-term.
24 Josh Palmer, WR LAC N/A 0 The Chargers somewhat surprisingly made Palmer the 11th WR off the board when they nabbed him in the middle of the 3rd round. He never stuffed the stat sheet at Tennessee but showed strong contested-catch skills on tape and tested well at 6’1, 210 pounds. Palmer can compete for Los Angeles’ #3 WR spot this year. And Mike Williams is due to hit free agency next offseason.
25 Kenneth Gainwell, RB PHI N/A 0 Like most of the RBs in this class, Gainwell got disappointing draft capital, slipping into the early 5th round. Even more worrisome is that he was the 9th RB off the board. He landed in a decent spot, though. Gainwell hasclaimed the pass catching role alongside Miles Sanders and looks to leap frog him on the depth chart.
26 Trey Sermon, RB SF N/A 0 Sermon landed in a nice spot: 49ers HC Kyle Shanahan's run scheme is 1 of the best in the NFL, and similar to what Sermon ran at Ohio State. The 3rd-round rookie has not been able to win the trust of the coaching staff and looks to be buried on the depth chart year 1.
27 Dyami Brown, WR WAS N/A 0 Brown excelled as a deep threat at UNC. With 4.45 speed, he tallied 20.0+ yards per catch in consecutive seasons. His tape led to a John Brown/Nelson Agholor comp from our own Jared Smola. The Round 3 pick likely has a WR2 ceiling.
28 Chuba Hubbard, RB CAR N/A 0 We were hoping Hubbard would land somewhere where he’d have a chance to win the lead ball-carrying job as part of a committee backfield. In Carolina, his short-term upside is Christian McCaffrey’s handcuff. And even a CMC injury probably wouldn’t turn Hubbard into a 3-down back considering he didn’t excel in the passing game at Oklahoma State.
29 D'Wayne Eskridge, WR SEA N/A 0 Even if you believe in Eskridge as a prospect, what’s the upside here? Seattle’s #3 WR has totaled 53, 34 and 47 targets the past 3 seasons. D.K. Metcalf is signed through 2022 and Tyler Lockett through 2025. Eskridge doesn’t have much time to wait around considering he’s already 24.
30 Amari Rodgers, WR GB N/A 0 Rodgers doesn’t have high-end size or athleticism but should be NFL-ready coming out of Clemson and is good after the catch. His short-term value takes a hit with the arrival of Randall Cobb. Plus, it's quite possible he plays only 1 season alongside Aaron Rodgers.
31 Brevin Jordan, TE HOU N/A 0
32 Kene Nwangwu, RB MIN N/A 0 Minnesota surprisingly made Nwangwu the 6th RB off the board. It’s a bet on traits and athleticism. Nwangwu totaled just 150 touches (143 carries, 7 catches) across 4 seasons at Iowa State. But he flashes elite burst on tape and tested as a 99th percentile athlete. He’ll battle for the #3 RB job in Minnesota this year. Dalvin Cook is signed through 2025 and Alexander Mattison through 2022.
33 Tommy Tremble, TE CAR N/A 0
34 Anthony Schwartz, WR CLE N/A 0 Schwartz was an actual track star in high school and college and blazed a 4.27-second 40 time at his Pro Day. There’s not much else to his game besides speed right now, but the Browns did spend a 3rd-round pick on him. We’ll see what their plans are for him. The downside is that Odell Beckham is signed through 2023; Jarvis Landry through 2022.
35 Khalil Herbert, RB CHI N/A 0
36 Kylen Granson, TE IND N/A 0
37 Jacob Harris, TE LAR N/A 0
38 Davis Mills, QB HOU N/A 0
39 Chris Evans, RB CIN N/A 0
40 Tutu Atwell, WR LAR N/A 0 Rams HC Sean McVay reportedly sees Atwell as a young version of DeSean Jackson. That’s exactly who Atwell figures to be playing behind at least to open 2021. Jackson, of course, has always had trouble staying healthy, so Atwell could find himself with a sizable role this season. The big difference between those 2 guys, though, is that Jackson is 175 pounds and Atwell just 149. Tough to imagine him becoming a real fantasy asset at that weight.
41 Mike Strachan, WR IND N/A 0
42 Jaret Patterson, RB WAS N/A 0
43 Tylan Wallace, WR BAL N/A 0 Wallace slid all the way into the late 4th round as the WR19 -- a reminder of his athletic limitations and prior ACL tear. The landing spot with the run-loving Ravens isn’t great, either. (They also added Rashod Bateman in Round 1.) But Wallace at least finds opportunity to win a top 3 spot on the depth chart. And he brings a strong college production profile.
44 Larry Rountree, RB LAC N/A 0
45 Dez Fitzpatrick, WR TEN N/A 0 Fitzpatrick (6'2, 208) went earlier than expected in the early 4th round as WR16. Unfortunately, he landed on a squad that's set at WR right now with A.J. Brown and Julio Jones. He could push Josh Reynolds for the WR3 job in 2021.
46 Ihmir Smith-Marsette, WR MIN N/A 0
47 Kellen Mond, QB MIN N/A 0
48 Seth Williams, WR DEN N/A 0 Williams faces an uphill battle as a 6th-round pick joining a currently loaded Broncos WR corps. It’s worth noting, though, that Courtland Sutton is currently slated to hit free agency next offseason. At 6’3, 211 pounds with a 37-inch vertical, Williams could be the Sutton replacement in a best-case scenario.
49 Jaelon Darden, WR TB N/A 0
50 Tre McKitty, TE LAC N/A 0
51 Kylin Hill, RB GB N/A 0 Hill was 1 of our favorite pre-draft sleepers after excelling as a runner in 2019 and a pass-catcher in 2020. His stock takes a hit, though, after he sunk to the late 7th round of the NFL Draft. He also joins a crowded Packers backfield behind Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon. The hope here is that Hill can eventually take on Jamaal Williams’ old role as a change-of-pace and pass-catching back behind Jones.
52 Simi Fehoko, WR DAL N/A 0 Fehoko is an intriguing developmental prospect: A 6’4, 222-pounder with 4.44 speed, a 34.5-inch vertical and nice agility. He’s a long shot for 2021 fantasy value, of course. But beyond that, Michael Gallup will be a free agent next offseason and there’s a chance Amari Cooper will be a salary-cap casualty with his $22 million price tag.
53 Hunter Long, TE MIA N/A 0
54 Jermar Jefferson, RB DET N/A 0
55 Racey McMath, WR TEN N/A 0
56 Dazz Newsome, WR CHI N/A 0
57 Marquez Stevenson, WR BUF N/A 0
58 Kenny Yeboah, TE NYJ N/A 0
59 Kyle Trask, QB TB N/A 0
60 Ian Book, QB NO N/A 0
