ESPN's Adam Caplan reports that Buccaneers MLB Mason Foster suffered a separated shoulder in Sunday's loss to the Rams. There's no word yet on how much time Foster might miss, but the team promoted another LB from the practice squad Monday. Dane Fletcher's in line to start while Foster is out but carries no immediate IDP appeal.
Washington has released starting ILB Mason Foster on the eve of the team opening training camp. Foster had spent offseason workouts in the same role he filled the past 2 years: starting MLB in the team's 3-4 base defense. His ouster leaves Shaun Dion Hamilton and recent signee Jon Bostic the likely inside starters. The move comes at the end of an offseason that saw fellow incumbent Zach Brown also get the boot and Reuben Foster tear an ACL. Bostic looks like the top IDP option there for now. We'll see what camp and the preseason reveal. Don't be surprised if the 30-year-old Mason Foster lands with another team.
Washington announced Thursday that it has re-signed ILB Mason Foster to an undisclosed contract. Foster opened 2017 starting next to Zach Brown but played only 5 games thanks to a shoulder injury that eventually landed him on IR. Fellow LBs Brown and Will Comptom also face free agency in March.
Washington LB Mason Foster (shoulder) is inactive for tonight's game against the Raiders. Will Compton will start in his place and is a suitable IDP replacement.
Washington LB Mason Foster is questionable for Sunday night's game against the Raiders with the shoulder injury he suffered in Week 2. Foster managed limited practices all week and should be on track to play. If you plan to wait for him Sunday night, though, roster Will Compton as insurance in case Foster turns up inactive. If your decision is close between Foster and another defender, though, go ahead and lean toward the other guy.
The Bears on Tuesday signed LB Mason Foster. The former Buc struggled as Tampa's middle starter, especially in coverage. But Foster is an athletic player with some big-play upside if he can land a 3-down role in Chicago's new D. Foster figures to compete for an ILB job in what's expected to primarily be a 3-4 front. LBs Jon Bostic, Christian Jones, Khaseem Greene and perhaps Shea McClellin stand as other current likely competitors inside.
