Seahawks TE Luke Willson (groin) is inactive for today's game against the Rams.  With TE Zach Miller (ankle) also out, Seattle is left with Cooper Helfet as the lead TE.  The former undrafted free agent caught his first 2 passes last week.  He's not a fantasy option.  WR Doug Baldwin could easily see 8+ targets today.  He's a sneaky WR3.

Recent Shark Bites

The Raiders have signed TE Luke Willson. The 29-year-old has yet to top 22 catches across 6 NFL seasons. Jared Cook's departure has Willson and former WR Darren Waller sitting atop Oakland's TE depth chart right now. The Raiders could still add to the position in free agency or the draft. But the passing game figures to revolve around WRs Antonio Brown and Tyrell Williams.

Lions TE Luke Willson left Friday night's preseason game in Tamp after suffering a knee injury. We have yet to hear any further details on the issue but will keep an eye on it heading toward the regular season. Willson has remained the projected starter for Detroit but sits barely on the fantasy football draft radar. Michael Roberts sits behind Willson on the "unofficial" depth chart and would be worth watching if Willson misses extended time.

The Lions have signed TE Luke Willson to a 1-year, $2.5 million deal, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Willson never topped 40 targets in 5 seasons in Seattle, but he posted a nice 12.7 yards per catch and 12.4% TD rate. He's a 6'5, 254-pounder who registered a 92nd percentile SPARQ (athleticism) score prior to the 2013 NFL Draft. Willson lands in an intriguing spot with the Lions, who've lost TEs Eric Ebron and Darren Fells this offseason. Willson and 2017 fourth-rounder Michael Roberts are set to compete for snaps and targets.

Seahawks HC Pete Carroll ruled out TE Luke Willson (concussion) on Friday. Cooper Helfet and Chase Coffman will handle TE duties when the Seahawks face the Vikings on Sunday.

Seahawks TE Luke Willson missed Thursday's practice because of the concussion that forced him out of the Week 17 game at Arizona. That points to a setback after he put in a limited practice Wednesday. If Willson sits Sunday at Minnesota, it would mean more playing time for TE Cooper Helfet. He played more than 70% of the snaps each of the past 2 games -- the only times all year he topped 53.1% -- and caught 4 passes on 6 targets each time, season-high numbers for each category.
