Bengals safeties Reggie Nelson (groin) and George Iloka (ankle) are both active for today's matchup with the Chargers. Neither is a terrific IDP option, but Nelson will make sense for plenty of fantasy football owners.
The Raiders have reached a 2-year deal with S Reggie Nelson. The former Bengal and Jaguar joins a secondary that has lost S Charles Woodson to retirement. Fellow S Nate Allen missed most of last season with injuries after signing as a free agent last offseason. And Oakland could use reinforcements at CB with former #1 pick D.J. Hayden playing his way off the field. All of that could mean tackle and pass-breakup opportunities for Nelson, who has been a decent IDP contributor at times but inconsistent with his fantasy scoring.
Bengals S Reggie Nelson is active for tonight's game against the Steelers after an illness rendered him questionable. Use him as you normally would if you're still playing in an IDP league.
Bengals S Reggie Nelson is expected to miss today's game at K.C. with a hamstring injury. Shame in such a high-upside IDP matchup.
FS Reggie Nelson reached a new 4-year deal with the Bengals on Sunday. The safety made multiple visits after free agency opened, including a meeting with the Jets. Ultimately, he'll return to the place where he enjoyed arguably his best pro season in 2011. He posted career highs in solo tackles, assists, sacks and pass breakups while adding 4 INTs. That made him a top-15 fantasy DB. Nelson has proved wildly inconsistent since bein drafted in Round 1 by the Jaguars, but we've at least been reminded of the upside. He should be drafted as an IDP starter in 2012.
