The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Rams DE Chris Long is expected to miss a week or 2 after hyperextending his right knee in Sunday's loss at Green Bay. The timing is fortunate, because St. Louis gets a Week 6 bye. We'll see if Long's ready for a Week 7 visit by the Browns. If he's not, DE William Hayes would start in his place.
On the same day they traded away DE Chandler Jones, the Patriots reached a 1-year deal with free-agent DE Chris Long. The former Ram, who turns 31 later this month, missed 10 games in 2014 and then started just 5 among his 12 appearances last season. He totaled only 4 sacks over the past 2 years after 4 straight campaigns of 8.5 or more. Long figures to be a rotational player in New England, with Jabaal Sheard and Rob Ninkovich likely to nail down the top jobs on the edges. Don't look for much IDP value here, but a healthy Long could certainly help the Patriots' pass rush.
Rams DE Chris Long is active for today's game against the Ravens. He missed the past 4 contests with a broken bone in his right knee. We'll see if he's ready for a full snap allotment. The uncertainty on that front -- combined with the solid play of DE William Hayes in Long's absence -- makes Long a poor IDP play this week, especially against a Ravens team that protects the passer well.
Rams DE Chris Long has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Browns. He left the Week 5 game at Green Bay with a knee injury and apparently isn't yet ready for action. The team originally announced the injury as a hyperextension that could cost Long a week or 2. We'll see if he can get back for Week 8. He didn't practice at all this week. DE William Hayes will start in his place and carry some sneaky IDP value against a poorly performing Cleveland O-line.
Rams DE Chris Long left in the 1st half of Sunday's loss to the Packers with a right knee injury and did not return. We'll see how serious the injury is. William Hayes stepped in after Long left and would carry some IDP appeal if Long misses further time. The Rams get a Week 6 bye, though.
The Rams activated DE Chris Long from short-term IR on Saturday, allowing him to return from his Week 1 ankle injury that required surgery. According to ESPN.com, Long suffered an uncommon injury, which forced his return to rely more on how he felt rather than an expected timetable. Long seems likely to play Sunday against the Raiders, though we'd have to expect a limited role. If he proves ready for closer to full-time duty, Long could be usable in sack-friendly IDP leagues over the final few fantasy weeks.
