Redskins RB Adrian Peterson (ankle, shoulder) is listed as questionable for this weekend's game against the Cowboys. He played through these injuries last Sunday and got in 2 limited practices this week. Peterson is fully expected to play vs. Dallas and can be penciled into fantasy lineups.

Recent Shark Bites

A month ago, we had an NFL.com writer calling Adrian Peterson the "lead dog" in the Washington backfield. Now, Kareem Copeland of the Washington Post seems to agree. Copeland wrote this week that RBs coach Randy Jordan expects a 60-40 work split between Peterson and Derrius Guice "one way or the other." He then added that Peterson "likely will be named the starter." Perhaps that's just speculation based on Peterson's solid performance last year. But it all at least indicates a lack of certainty on the roles in Washington. A healthy Guice leads in upside here, though, and his ADP has fallen to the bottom of RB3 territory. Taking shots on either or both RBs here makes sense for fantasy football drafts. We'll keep watching the situation through camp and the preseason.

NFL.com's Kevin Patra writes that RB Adrian Peterson is "set to be lead dog" in Washington's backfield this season. Peterson averaged a decent 4.2 yards per carry on 251 attempts last year and ranked 11th among 47 qualifying RBs in Pro Football Focus' Elusive Rating. There's evidently still gas left in the 34-year-old's tank. But RB Derrius Guice -- if recovered from his torn ACL -- would seem to bring more upside at this point. The Redskins' backfield will be worth monitoring closely when training camp gets going. Guice is currently going in the 6th round of fantasy drafts; Peterson in the 11th.

RB Adrian Peterson is re-signing with the Redskins on a 2-year deal. The future Hall-of-Famer exceeded expectations (as usual) last year, pumping out his 8th 1,000-yard campaign on a decent 4.2 yards per carry. Ideally for Washington, Peterson will be a lightly used backup behind Derrius Guice in 2019.

Update: Peterson's deal is for $8 million, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. We're curious to see more details on the contract, but this initial reports makes it look like the 'Skins envision a significant role for AP. Perhaps there's concern about Guice's rehab from last year's torn ACL, which has required multiple surgeries.

As expected, Redskins RB Adrian Peterson (ankle) is active for today’s game against the Panthers and Chris Thompson (ribs) is inactive. Kapri Bibbs will step in as Washington’s #2 RB, but Peterson should handle as many touches as he can handle.

Redskins RB Adrian Peterson (ankle) is expected to play against the Panthers today, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. With RB Chris Thompson and Jamison Crowder likely to be sidelined, Peterson should play a big ball-carrying role and an expanded passing-game role. He's a nice RB2 for Week 6.
