Panthers WR Devin Funchess (back) is listed as questionable for this weekend’s game against the Bucs after getting in limited practices on Thursday and Friday. HC Ron Rivera said Friday that he’s “optimistic” about Funchess’ status. If active, he’ll be no better than a risky WR3. But Funchess’ return would make WR Curtis Samuel impossible to trust in fantasy lineups. WR D.J. Moore remains a WR2 with upside.
The Colts have placed WR Devin Funchess on IR with his broken collarbone. That knocks him out until at least Week 10, so Funchess can be dropped in redraft leagues. We'll see who picks up his snaps going forward. The 6'2, 202-pound Deon Cain might be a sneaky bet. Parris Campbell, Chester Rogers and Zach Pascal are other candidates.
Colts WR Devin Funchess suffered a broken collarbone in Sunday's loss to the Chargers. NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Funchess is likely heading for surgery. Expect the wideout to miss at least half the season. His injury will leave more available for fellow WRs Deon Cain and Parris Campbell.
Colts WR Devin Funchess appeared to hurt his left shoulder late in Sunday's game against the Chargers. We'll pass along an update on his status when we get one.
Colts insider Kevin Bowen calls Devin Funchess the "heavy, heavy favorite" to be the team's #2 WR this season. That's been our belief since Funchess inked a 1-year, $10 million deal with Indy back in March. The addition of 2nd-round rookie WR Parris Campbell clouded the picture a bit, but Campbell is expected to serve in a part-time role this season. Funchess is coming off a rough 2018 campaign in Carolina. But he went for 63-840-8 the previous year, is still just 25 and has that 6'4, 225-pound frame that should make him a red-zone weapon for a Colts squad that racked up 39 passing TDs last season. Funchess is a nice value at his current WR56 ADP.
The Colts are signing WR Devin Funchess to a 1-year contract. It's a nice landing spot for a guy who might still have his best football ahead of him. Funchess broke out for a 63-840-8 line just a couple of years ago but fell out of favor in Carolina this past season. He turns just 25 in May, though -- extremely young for a guy entering his 5th NFL campaign. Funchess has a shot to finish 2nd on the 2019 Colts in targets and will be getting a QB upgrade in Andrew Luck. Funchess should also be plenty motivated on the 1-year deal.
