Foles will start Week 16 | Shark Bites | Draft Sharks

Eagles HC Doug Pederson announced on Monday that QB Nick Foles will start this weekend's game against the Texans. Pederson also said that QB Carson Wentz (back) will not go on IR yet. So Philly evidently believes he could return for Week 17 -- or potentially the playoffs. Foles was OK in Sunday night's upset win over the Rams, completing 24 of 31 passes (77.4%) for 270 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT. He'll be just a lower-end QB2 vs. Houston.

Recent Shark Bites

The Jaguars have traded QB Nick Foles to the Bears in exchange for a compensatory 4th-round pick, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports. Foles notably spent 2012 with Bears HC Matt Nagy in Philadelphia and 2016 with him in Kansas City, so there's some familiarity there. Still, we imagine that this will be an open competition for the starting job this summer between Foles and Mitchell Trubisky. Neither guy is an exciting target in early best-ball drafts. In Jacksonville, meanwhile, QB Gardner Minshew is left atop the depth chart for now.

The Jaguars are set to hire Jay Gruden as their new OC, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Gruden is coming off a failed stint as Washington's HC but did help the Redskins to top-17 finishes in total yards in each of his first 4 seasons, including a 3rd-place finish in 2016. Prior to that, Gruden spent 3 years as Cincinnati's OC. Those teams ranked 20th, 22nd and 10th in total yards. The big question in Jacksonville this offseason is what will happen at QB between Nick Foles, Gardner Minshew and potentially a rookie or free-agent addition.

Jaguars QB Nick Foles was benched at halftime of Sunday's game against the Bucs. He completed just 7 of 14 passes for 93 yards, 0 TDs and 1 INT in the game's first 30 minutes. Foles also lost 2 fumbles. QB Gardner Minshew will finish out the game for the Jags. We'll see who they go with for Week 14 and beyond.

Jaguars HC Doug Marrone announced Tuesday that QB Nick Foles will be the starter coming out of the Week 10 bye. Rookie QB Gardner Minshew exceeded all expectations filling in for Foles, completing 61.2% of his passes, averaging 7.4 yards per attempt and tossing 13 TDs vs. 4 INTs. Money is winning out here, though, after Jacksonville gave Foles $50 million guaranteed this offseason. He's worth adding in all 2-QB leagues and deeper 1-QB leagues. The Jags have the easiest remaining QB schedule, including games against the Bucs (Week 13), Raiders (Week 15) and Falcons (Week 16).

Jaguars QB Nick Foles will undergo surgery on his broken left clavicle on Monday. “We don’t have a time span [for return]," Foles said. “We’re going to take it one day at a time ... I’m going to do everything I can to get back as quickly as I can to where I’m ready to roll.” Pro Football Talk speculates that Foles could be placed on IR-designated-to-return. That'd knock him out until at least Week 10. Rookie QB Gardner Minshew is set to take over as Jacksonville's starter. He played well against the Chiefs on Sunday but is still a downgrade for this entire Jags offense.
