Jets TE Chris Herndon is "facing the likelihood of a two-game suspension for pleading guilty in January to driving while intoxicated," ESPN's Rich Cimini reported Friday. Assuming that comes to fruition, it'll make Herndon tough to go after in common-sized redraft leagues. TE is already a position where we often look to roster just 1 player. Tying up a roster spot with a 2nd who won't even be available the 1st 2 weeks would complicate waiver decisions in 2 of the more important weeks for such moves all season. That said, Herndon should be able to flirt with low-TE1 production when he does hit the field this year.

Jets TE Chris Herndon (hamstring) is listed as doubtful for Monday night's game against the Patriots. We'll see if he can make his 2019 debut in Week 8. Ryan Griffin will again serve as New York's lead TE on Monday but isn't a fantasy option in this matchup.

Jets TE Chris Herndon (hamstring) remained sidelined on Thursday. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reported last week that Herndon is unlikely to play against the Patriots on Monday night. We'll see if he's able to make his 2019 debut in Week 8.

Jets TE Chris Herndon has a Grade 1 hamstring strain and is expected to miss Weeks 6 and 7, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. It's a disappointing development for fantasy owners that had Herndon stashed over the first 5 weeks -- but we'd try to hang on to him. The talented 2nd-year TE still has a shot to emerge as a weekly fantasy starter at an ugly position.

Jets TE Chris Herndon won't practice on Wednesday after injuring his hamstring running routes on Friday, HC Adam Gase said. Gase called it "a legit hamstring," so it sounds like Herndon is in real danger of missing this weekend's game against the Cowboys. We'll get another update on his status tomorrow, but fantasy owners should be making other plans for Week 6.

The NFL has suspended Jets TE Chris Herndon for the 1st 4 games for violating the league's substance abuse policy, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. A suspension was expected, following Herndon's June 2018 DUI, but rumor had it at 2 games. We might yet see an appeal here. If you're drafting now, though, treat it as a 4-game ban and move Herndon down your TE rankings. The Jets have a Week 4 bye, which means you'd lose Herndon (and that roster spot) for the season's 1st 5 weeks. His absence could help the target outlooks for players such as Jamison Crowder and Quincy Enunwa.
