NFL Network's Ian Rapoport hears that Panthers QB Cam Newton's foot injury "doesn't appear to be serious." That matches what we heard from former NFL head team Dr. David Chao. "He may get tests tomorrow, regardless," Rapoport adds. Stay tuned for more updates.

Panthers HC Ron Rivera said Tuesday that there's "no timeline" for QB Cam Newton's return from his latest foot injury. That doesn't sound like a guy with a good shot of playing this weekend. Newton was reportedly in a walking boot at the Panthers' facility on Tuesday. We'll track his status over the next few days, but fantasy owners should plan on being without Newton for Week 3 -- any maybe longer.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reports that Panthers QB Cam Newton aggravated his foot injury in Thursday night's loss to the Bucs and that his status for Week 3 is "up in the air." We'll keep tabs on Newton throughout the week, but he shouldn't be in your Week 3 fantasy plans. On top of struggling as a passer, Newton isn't running. He has 5 carries for negative 2 yards through 2 games -- and the foot injury is likely to blame. QB Kyle Allen will start for Carolina against the Cardinals on Sunday if Newton can't.

Panthers QB Cam Newton isn't listed on the initial Week 1 injury report. "I feel good about the work that he has done," HC Ron Rivera said Wednesday. Newton still comes with elevated risk in Week 1 fantasy lineups after that preseason foot sprain -- and the fact that Sunday will be his 1st significant action since offseason shoulder surgery. But an active Newton always brings top-5 fantasy upside.

Panthers GM Marty Hurney said Monday that QB Cam Newton (foot) is "good to go" for this weekend's opener against the Rams. That matches everything we've heard over the past week. ESPN's David Newton noted that Newton wasn't limited in the portion of Monday's practice open to the media. We'll get Carolina's 1st official injury report on Wednesday. A full practice would make Newton a green-light fantasy play.

Panthers HC Ron Rivera said Tuesday that "there's no doubt in my mind” that QB Cam Newton (foot) will be ready for the season opener. He's worked off to the side of practice the past 2 days. The question now is whether Newton's mobility and rushing production will be curtailed early on. We'll be watching his practice participation closely next week.
