Giants WR Golden Tate (concussion) is out for Sunday's game against the Packers. He leaves behind 8.1 targets per game. With TEs Evan Engram (foot) and Rhett Ellison (concussion) also out, there's a lot of volume to go around for WR Sterling Shepard, WR, Darius Slayton, RB Saquon Barkley and TE Kaden Smith.
The Giants released WR Golden Tate, saving a little over $6 million against the 2021 salary cap. Tate is coming off a tumultuous 2020 season, missing Week 1 for a performance-enhancing drug suspension and later getting benched for a game after publicly complaining about his role. He finished with a 35-388-2 line and turns 33 in August. We'll see where Tate lands, but he's not a great bet for a big 2021 fantasy impact. His departure from The Big Apple frees up opportunity for Sterling Shepard, Darius Slayton and Evan Engram -- although we'll have to see what other moves the Giants make this offseason.
Giants WR Golden Tate (calf) is out for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. His absence gives WRs Sterling Shepard and Darius Slayton slight boosts in projected targets.
Giants HC Joe Judge said WR Golden Tate was back at team headquarters Monday and that he expects the veteran to play Sunday against the Eagles, according to Paul Schwartz of the New York Post. Tate spent Week 9 inactive over behavioral issues. He totaled just 6 targets over the 3 games before that, though. So it's tough to imagine Tate being an option for fantasy football lineups in Week 10.
The Giants plan to make WR Golden Tate a healthy scratch for Sunday's game against Washington, according to NFL Network's Kim Jones. "The decision was made due to overall issues with effort & performance," she tweeted. "Tate has a chance to return to the lineup next week." C.J. Board and Austin Mack are the next guys up on the depth chart, but we wouldn't consider either a meaningful fantasy option. Tate has totaled just 6 targets over the past 3 games -- only 2 of which included Sterling Shepard.
Giants WR Golden Tate (hamstring) is active for today’s game against the Bears. NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport said this morning that Tate “should be at full strength” — although the fact that he remained limited in practice all week has us shying away from using Tate in fantasy lineups today.
