Titans TE Jonnu Smith (ankle) progressed to a full practice on Thursday. He's on track to play against the Steelers this weekend. Despite the ankle injury and that tough matchup, Smith remains safely inside the top 10 TEs for Week 7.
The Patriots have agreed to a 4-year deal with TE Jonnu Smith, agent Drew Rosenhaus tells ESPN. The pact includes $50 million, with $31.25 million guaranteed. Smith flashed intriguing athleticism and receiving ability across 3 seasons with the Titans. He has yet to eclipse 41 receptions or reach 450 receiving yards in a season, though. Smith saw particularly odd usage with last year, garnering just 12 more targets for the season than teammate Anthony Firkser. The size of this contract suggests New England plans to feature him more as a receiver. And a roster that saw only WR Jakobi Meyers reach 50 receptions last season presents plenty of opportunity for Smith. The TE will turn just 26 this August and looks like a high-upside fantasy prospect going forward. His arrival is bad news if you were hoping for a Year 2 breakout from TE Devin Asiasi.
Titans TE Jonnu Smith (knee) isn't listed on the final injury report and is set to return for Sunday's game vs. the Jaguars. Smith smoked Jacksonville for a 4-84-2 line back in Week 2 but rolls into the rematch with 2 or fewer catches in 6 of his last 7 games. He can only be considered a boom/bust TE2.
Titans TE Jonnu Smith (knee) got in a limited practice on Wednesday. That would seem to put him on track to return for this weekend's game against the Jaguars, but we'll see what he does the next 2 days.
Titans TE Jonnu Smith (knee) is out for Sunday's game against the Browns. That puts TE Anthony Firkser in play as a lower-end spot-starter in seasonal fantasy leagues and as a punt play in DFS. He's actually run just 42 fewer routes and seen only 9 fewer targets than Smith this season and will now soak up the vast majority of the TE work this weekend. It's also a plus matchup vs. a Cleveland defense sitting 27th in Football Outsiders' TE coverage rankings and 31st in adjusted fantasy points allowed to the position.
Titans TE Jonnu Smith (knee) missed his 2nd straight practice on Thursday. It looks like he's in danger of sitting out this weekend's game against the Browns. His absence would leave Anthony Firkser as Tennessee's lead TE. We'll update the situation again tomorrow.
