Vikings RB Dalvin Cook went home to Miami to attend to a family situation and won't be able to play vs. the Lions this weekend due to COVID protocols, according to ESPN's Courtney Cronin. We'll see if RB Alexander Mattison clears the concussion protocol in time for that one. If not, Minnesota would be down to RBs Ameer Abdullah and Mike Boone. Abdullah has played ahead of Boone the last 3 games Mattison missed.
The Vikings have promoted Klint Kubiak to OC. He's the son of Gary Kubiak, who just retired after spending the past 2 seasons in Minnesota. Klint has no NFL play-calling experience. We suspect his job will be to keep as much of his father's offense in place as possible.
Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (ankle) isn't listed on the final Week 13 injury report. He was limited in practice this week, and there's a chance Minnesota scales back his workload a bit in Sunday's game against the Jaguars. That might be a reason to not pay up for him in DFS, but Cook remains an obvious must-start in season-long fantasy leagues.
Vikings OC Gary Kubiak admitted Tuesday that RB Dalvin Cook is "beat up" right now. "He’s been hit pretty hard the last couple of weeks taking some poundings," Kubiak added. "It’s at that point of the season so we’ve got to get him freshened up this week and get him back to being himself." Cook briefly exited last week's game with an ankle injury but was able to return. We're not aware of any other specific injuries, although we're sure he's feeling it after averaged 25.4 carries and 3.4 catches per game over the last 5 weeks. We'll keep an eye on Cook this week, but expect him to get another 20+ touches vs. the Jaguars on Sunday.
Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (groin) is active for today’s game against the Packers. He’s expected to play his usual workhorse role and is a must-start in fantasy.
ESPN's Adam Schefter confirms that Vikings RB Dalvin Cook (groin) is expected to play against the Packers today. Cook practiced all week, including a full workout on Friday. And OC Gary Kubiak said that he doesn't expect to have Cook on a "pitch count." He's a must-start today.
